ADW Launcher

I think it is phone specific in this case. After I read your first post talking about this I tested the "finger flicking speed" and I soon thought I had a problem with it responding...but I was just already across all 5 pages in a quickness. My finger can barely keep up with the screen lol. I don't know what to tell you other than to try it on a new rom (or even load up an old Nandroid and give it a whirl).

Thanks...I switched back to Helix and that scrolls fine, so clearly there is something odd going on between ADW and my phone/installed SW. I'm on CM...

I'm going to uninstall ADW and reinstall and if that doesn't work I'm going to just go back to Helix. :)

Did you use a task killer and end Helix after you switched to ADW?

Frustrating...screen-to-screen is still very rough for me...everything else is excellent...

That's what was happening for me on BB V1.0. I just did a totally clean install of NexBeast and decided to give this launcher one more chance, so I installed it along with the Low Voltage 1.2GHz kernel. It's seriously just as smooth as Sense UI. I love it.

EDIT: I have a feeling that I was probably getting all the lag since I still had Helix Launcher 2 running while I was testing ADW out on BB 1.0. Either way, I love NexBeast!

I have a small problem. I flashed it using Clockwork....just update using zip file from SD card. I flashed it over NexBeast BB V1.0 and nothing happened.....I don't see anything in regards to it. So what do I do now? Do I just push the apk straight to the system/app/ folder? If so what about the META folder?

Did you make Helix the default?

You need to go into settings, manage applications, filter, all, find helix launcher, and 'reset defaults'

Then, when you click the home button, it will prompt you with which launcher you want to use.

It should be there under the Home option when you boot up and it asks you to pick a home launcher. It isn't named ADW or anything it just uses the regular Home name...

I didn't even see that. It just booted up like normal. I tapped on home and nothing happened....so I held down home and the recent apps box popped up. Would it be easier to push it into system/apps/ folder? Or should I try and install and again through clockwork?

Edit...Fab already posted this info and I didn't see that...but I don't think you saw it either (or your problem would be solved)...

What launcher are you currently using? You need to go into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Press the Menu key, then Filter and select "All" > Then find the launcher that is currently set as your default and select it > and then select "Clear defaults"

Once you have done this, press home and all of the launchers that you have on your phone will pop up. Select "Home" and that should do it...you should be running ADW (you have set it as your default app for the Sense UI preview to work).

Something I never noticed before on stock launcher, helix, or otherwise, if you long press an app and move it to the trashcan like you normally would to remove it from your screen, you can hold it there for a couple moments longer then release it to quickly uninstall the app. I may have just missed the boat on this feature for the past few months, but I wouldn't have noticed it without the dialog box popping up on this launcher saying "drop to uninstall." Just thought I'd share in case others hadn't noticed this either.

This would make it perfect for me.

1. 4 large icons around app drawer button.
2. 4 large icons on app bar with close bar button in the middle.

Same number of icons and much better useability.

Weird thing is I've tried that. I am using Helix 1 themed by Fab. It's in my system/app/ folder. I went through my installed apps and tried to see if it was there, but it isn't. I don't even see "Home" in there. That's why I was wondering if it would be easier to just delete the launcher.apk that's in my system/app/ folder and paste the one that's part of the ADW zip file in its place? I am using Root Manager for that....
I meant Root Explorer

LOL! I never knew that. Great tip.

I know I didn't lol. Good look.

How did you install this to begin with? I had the same issue as you and I used the method in my last post to clear my default launcher (Helix 1). That's why I'm thinking this didn't install correctly.

I finally got it to work. It did install the first time, I just had to download the Home Switcher from the market and switch it back to the regular home which was the ADW launcher. I like it, it's pretty cool. The small icon is ok since the app dock drawer thingy is there. It's definitely helpful. My standard two buttons are phone and contacts

I didn't see what version this was actually built for but it works. Not much different but I like it over the "stock".

Yep just got that theme for it, it works on this version and is awesome... It is a MetaMorph and all you need to do is download it and put it in your AndroidThemes folder... run MetaMorph and then select the zip folder and then apply all...

As a note you will have to re-do the widgets on your home screens after you apply it...

Oh ok I see. Thanks for the link. I think I'mma stick with the eclair version. It looks great with NexBeast BB V1.0. Man I like this launcher. No complaints, except for the drawer, a little to senstive, skips pages to much. I have to take my time and swipe left or right to move one screen over. Other than that.....this thing is amazing.....Can't wait for the official....

Yeah...I'm not a big fan of the horizontal scrolling but you can turn that off and get the fastest/smoothest vertical app scrolling I have seen.

Go to ADW Settings > Drawer Settings > Uncheck "New Drawer" ;)
Also, while you're there...make sure that "Animated Drawer" is unchecked and that "Fast Drawer" is checked. This is of course just my opinion but I have found this works best.

Eclair beta 7 is not installing for me.
Tried moving files to root, original name and rename to update.zip and installing via ROM Manager, and manually via clockwork - no dice
Did the exact same only transferring via PC - no go

What gives?

Having a problem flashing this to my phone. It's just the update.zip method right??? Yes im using sprecovery. Yes it's on the root of my sdcard. In recovery it says.....

Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted...

Tried it three times. I might just try using v.6 instead of the latest and see what that does for me. If anyone could help me out that would be awesome.

Edit: Oh and running the latest Nexbeast if that helps.
