As im sure almost everyone knows, Android/Google are doing this 10 apps, for 10 days, for 10p and today ADW is listed but im unsure about how good it actually is? Say in comparison to LauncherPro?

I know LauncherPro hasn't been updated in a while (almost abandoned?) whereas ADW is still really active but interms of performance and aesthetics, do either of them have an edge or are they all much the same as eachother?

Basically... should I get it?

The way I see it with these apps is, for 10p, even if I would only ever think of using the app once, 10p is a steal.

The camera app that was 10p the other day, I'll probably not use, but it's handy to have as purchased on my account just in case I ever do decide I want to give it a go.

I've just purchased it. I've actually just switched to Go Launcher after having some stability problems with Launcher Pro. I may not use it as I'm happy with Go at the moment but it's there just in case.

That was exactly my thinking (even with that Paper Camera app from Monday) but I thought i'd ask, just in case anyone turned around and told me it was utterly useless

Aside from the price, ADW is pretty handy too. As NorthernNoel, I am relatively happy with Go, but it's nice to have the proper version of ADW just in case I fancy a change. :)

It's not showing for me though, on the phone or the webpage, it's still yesterdays deals.

I get charged an overseas fee of 1.25 for non UK market purchases.... so 10p is not 10p for me

All market costs are translated to sterling in the UK. The overseas transaction fee is from my bank (think it was added when santander took over fully) and is applied whenever the market application is purchased from a non UK developer.

I ensure I only buy great apps.

Some people are getting charged 2p tax apparently. Not sure how it all works but I'm not getting taxed.

I didn't bother buying ADW as I don't personally have any need for it over Go Launcher.

Yeah mine was 12p after tax too, didn't it tell you that when you purchased it? Pretty sure it did when I bought a few.

A 20% markup? Forget it! And to think I was seriously considering it! The cheek!

(I'm a Yorkshireman through & through :p)

Picked up Paper Camera and promptly lost my phone...

...my daughter is currently making cartoons and pencil sketches of her bedroom :)

Hey Dan, I'm so glad you raised this. I thought this was just me. Its such a frustrating problem, and it really puts me off buying apps.

Some of the 10p ones I've bought so far have been fine, like Fieldrunners and ADX I don't think I've been taxed. Others like Tetris I have been. When I purchase it listed that as 10p + 2p tax, not sure if I've been charged the 1.25 in addition.

I actually complained to my bank about this before and got

Santander. I get it with paypal purchases too. I'm looking for a new bank so this will definitely be a consideration

i dont know if i get this with halifax as the apps that are oversees havent appeared on my statement yet.
the tax is applied by google due to location etc however

I'm with Santander. The money has gone out of my account for 7 apps so far and I've only been charged 10p for each of them.
