After FroYo... what is next?

I'm happy with my DX for at least a year maybe two. Here's the deal. I'm already paying for two data plans and a family plan for four phones. Why do I want the extra data charge for the 4G phones, especially when I mostly use wifi anyway?
 
When I signed my one year contract with Verizon at the end of April to get the Incredible, I did so for a reason. Once I can upgrade, I expect to do so if there is a phone worth upgrading to from the X. I expect there will be about 6 months from now. I expect I'll be "upgrading" to a new phone once or twice a year from now on, so I'm not sweating EOL status for a phone. My Inc has 2.2, and IMHO it isn't that big of an upgrade, so not having 2.2 on my X isn't a big deal. Maybe Gingerbread will be a bigger upgrade, but I'm not too worried about that either. As is, the X is a fine phone. I'm not expecting humongous changes from any software OS upgrades while I have this phone. If they can just get the bugs worked out, I'm fine with that.

I bet the official 2.2 will be the last official update we get from Motorola. The Droid 1 only got all those upgrades due to the fact it ran stock Android. It didn't have the albatross of Motorblur hanging around it's neck. So I don't expect anything except maybe a bug fix or two for the X, after 2.2.

And you thought process on this came from where? Just the fact that you think 2.2 will be the last OTA that we ever get is dumb. Why would Moto come out with two phones that are almost identical (D2 and DX) and then just say oh sorry we aren't going to support your device anymore even though it is our latest and greatest?

Given there are new phones coming out all the time this doesn't mean they are just going to drop what is a few months old.

Our DX may not be the Newest and Greatest in a few months but it isn't going to be so out dated they are just going to brush it off and say screw all you guys.
