After FroYo... what is next?

I am very happy with my Droid X... I am patiently waiting for 2.2... I know it will happen.. hopefully sooner than later...

My question... what are we going to be looking for next and when? Gingerbread?

Just looking ahead... patiently :D

OK... Gingerbread... when is everyone thinking that Gingerbread is supposed to come out? Has there been any public announcement of a date (e.g., "Late Summer") or is it just the next thing on the horizon?

Probably EOY for stock android devices. Phones with custom UIs like sense, Blur, touchWiz will probably end up waiting til 2011

What's next? A million threads asking where the next update is, and complaints about why we don't have it, and how much better it is, and that 2.2 SHOULD have fixed whatever is included in the next ota......
But seriously, 3.0. That's what we're looking at next. Run a google search for more info. It's out there, I just don't remember what's being rumored today vs. yesterday.

I doubt those rumored minimum requirements are true. They may be recommended specs, but they can't be required.

That would mean a brand new phone such as the HTC Desire Z (T-Mobile G2) would not meet the requirement, even though it is just as capable as any 1Ghz class phone out now.

But yes, the X will be able to run 3.0 :)

Well, whenever it is that Gingerbread comes out, I hope the X gets it. I can't wait to get rid of MotoBlur.

It's not confirmed yet if 3.0 will be the death of manufacturer skins or not, but I sure do hope so too, provided Google can create a compelling enough interface.

That being said, Vanilla Froyo ROMs are just around the corner, so the X will be rid of Blur soon.

The X most likely wont be getting Gingerbread. If by some miracle it does, it still will have Motoblur on it. At the least the official one will. And EOL is already known to be in March of next year. I bet the official 2.2 will be the last official update we get from Motorola. The Droid 1 only got all those upgrades due to the fact it ran stock Android. It didn't have the albatross of Motorblur hanging around it's neck. So I don't expect anything except maybe a bug fix or two for the X, after 2.2.

I'll take that bet. I bet the x will get 3.0. EOL doesn't mean end of support.

I hope so.....I'm itching to get my hands on Vanilla Froyo. Death to MotoBlur....lol :D

I just hope my DX will run Strawberry Shortcake.

I mean, it's practically not even worth using until Italian Ice comes out. As a matter of fact, I just took the battery out and packed it all back up into the box.

Cool to know that the X will run 3.0.

But if it just makes the minimum specs, I'd rather not have it if it will make the phone run slow as molasses. I suppose time will tell.

Oman, do yourself a favor and don't think about it. People have been going insane about froyo for just over 2 months.. We likely won't have 3.0 until farrr beyond that.

I'm still waiting for fajita 4.0
