Not sure that helped. I am in the house . 30 seconds on test and 7 sattelites shown, no locks yet. But again, im in the house. 11 in view now after a minute.

Your Google Maps installation/updates may have been fine while mine were most likely corrupted during the earlier update procedure.

What LBStest settings are you guys using?

you should probably not mess around with the LBStest settings.

After this extensive optimization, I'm sure the settings are they way they should be.

Remember, someone infront of their computer started a thread incorrectly entitled "GPS FIX" 3 months ago, and it spread like a virus all over the GalaxyS community, and all of us started messing with LBStest.

THere is no need, those fixes were not fixes, and someone at xda who started that thread got WAY TOO MUCH attention. Nothing was fixed, the moderators should have retitled the thread.

Leave your lbstest settings alone. Let JI6 do it's thing

So hos is GPS in the real world now, is it really fixed?

So far so good. It no longer thinks I'm on the same street when I divert a block and run parallel to the original route.

Only problem so far, as noted elsewhere, is it tends to get antsy stopped at a light. Display spins as it fixes and refixes on different points at an intersection. But that resolves once traffic moves again.

Does it still hop around, or move at a red light, or put you driving in the opposite direction?

I got the OTA fix and my GPS is working better than it used to. However, I don't know if its really working as well as can be expected.

When I active the navigate app I get "searching for GPS"/ Follow the route" for about 5 minutes. After that it seems to sync and works without complaining.

This is in my car. I don't know if the delay is typical. I also have a low end Garmin dedicated GPS which also takes several minutes to sync. I had thought the Garmin was just weak, but maybe several minutes of sync time is typical.

Is it?

Yes, but it resolves once the car starts moving.

For chuckles yesterday, I activated GPS and Maps walking out of work, and it tracked me perfectly walking to the parking lot a block away. Compass seemed to work, too.

My only misgiving about this phone now is battery life, but I bought a couple of extras and swap out a lot.

I used the GPS on a short trip over the weekend and I seemed to keep locked on, but the maps didn't update, so it was pretty well useless anyway. Do the maps cache so if I go back there again, I'll already have them for that area?

I was using navigator. Maybe I should have switched to rmaps or something else.

I've never had that. I use Google Maps and they update just fine if on 3G or a little slower on 2G. They do not cache.

The maps were updating behind me. Not too useful. LOL

I didn't check if it was on 3g or not. Should have been because it was close to the interstate.

I used the GPS yesterday for an hour drive. Had it plugged into my car charger. GPS seemed to work great, but when I arrived at my destination, the phone felt like it was ready to melt. Anybody experience any overheating problems with their Vibrant with the GPS mode on, plugged in to the car charger? Glad it didn't burn any images into my screen, but I'm hesitant to use it again.

Especially if the phone is in the sun while you are driving, it can get really hot. I know once my Droid X was so hot it was tough to even touch.

That time, it also stopped charging. I guess some sort of overheating mechanism kicked in or something. Once it cooled down some, it started charging again.

I think these devices can generally handle lots of heat, though long time exposure to heat is no so great for electrical components.

Did the update on my wifes Vibrant today and the GPS see more sats but still takes forever to lock on. Doesnt matter what settings I use. Factory....ones on XDA... random ones. My Captivate seems to get location within 15-45 secs. But even then has a hard time staying locked while on the road. The GPS in these phones just arent reliable. Even used the same exact settings on my Captivate on my wifes Vibrant. Sucks!

Went from taking > 3 minutes to get 1 satellite locked to <30 sec to get 8-9 locked. Before the update, GPS Test would always show the current time as 8 hours ahead, despite numerous resets, tweaking GPS settings and deleting of GPS data. Now the time is always correct, which I'm sure was a big reason why it wouldn't lock any satellites.

After the update.

Takes minutes to lock on, and sometimes it doesn't lock on at all. If I kill all the "bloat applications" and then re-start the gps, it seems to work. But I think that's excessive for a smooth-running gps.

Drove 2 hours to Rhode Island today. Used the Vibrant GPS. Locked on, and it almost seemed AS SOON as I hit Rhode Island, the entire unit failed to navigate. Thank God the DOT still has signs on the highways!

Not happy with the "GPS fix".

Rhode Island is still inhabited?

Well I was happy until I used gps on the road. When it worked it was dead nuts, but when it didn't it was worse them it was. Are there any settings I can tweak that may help?

Could you please be more specific in describing the problem(s) you had?

Yes sir, all of a sudden after working fine it would put me somewhere else in the area, then not catch up to where I'm at unless I reenter my destination, then it would find me and be on my way again.
