Ally Replacement

downtheory

Newbie
I love my LG Ally, been one of the best phones I've had over the years, and it's one of my first smartphones period.

I want to state first, before asking the question(s) I have, that I am in no way knocking the Ally at all. And, if this post is in the wrong forum, that I apologize in advance for the mishap. Thanks. :)

Ok on to my question(s).

Would there be any way I could I get a Moto Droid 1 as a replacement for my Ally, since the Droid 1 is roughly the same price I paid for my Ally ($49.99), about 2 months ago? If I either take it into the VZ store nearby tomorrow, or call on the phone?

The reason I ask this, is because I have always wanted a Moto Droid 1, even though it's considered to be old now, and all the modding capabilities it has. I've had the pleasure of rooting and adding a custom ROM or two to one of my friend's D1.

Otherwise I'm fine getting a replacement Ally for the one I have now.

I do want to thank anyone who views and answers this thread. Just looking for a little information is all. Again, apologies if this is in the wrong part of the forums, or if my questions aren't clear enough to understand, I'm tired after working 12 hours out in the snow today. :)

I got a replacement cause i was having issues where the Ally was not staying charged for longer than 6 hours even with a new battery. Chances are you will get a Certified Replacement Ally like i did.

Ah I see. Thanks for the quick answer!
Was hoping there would be a small possibility I could get a Moto D1, but either way it's fine. :)

It's doubtful Verizon would replace one model with another but if you buy a new or used Droid 1 they will activate it in place of the old one no problem. But hey, it doesn't hurt to ask, all they can do is snicker, roll their eyes and say no.
BTW, I'd work on avoiding the "I love my LG Ally, been one of the best phones I've had over the years" statement along with the "Would there be any way I could I get a Moto Droid 1 as a replacement for my Ally, since the Droid 1 is roughly the same price I paid for my Ally ($49.99), about 2 months ago?" question if you ask them. Just a suggestion.

:D noted. Yeah that probably wouldn't be the best question to ask.

But you're right, all I can do is ask, don't really have anything to lose.
Thanks.

Well after trying some things out, from another section of the Ally forums here, my phone still isn't working properly at all. I'm having the dreaded speaker phone issue I've been reading about all over Google... :(

Looks like I will have to take it in and see if it can be replaced...this is all happening at the worst time possible, I need my phone for work, and a trip to Florida tomorrow...
