yeah so it just mounts it upon boot
makes sense

To confirm once booted i am unable to see the device as usb and when i run 'adb devices' it says none found...

So as i understand it i cant make a goldcard now?

I tried the downgrade tool you suggested but the pc can't see the phone so its not actually working.

I have managed to plug my SD card into another desire and get the CID, i used the goldcard creator and now i have one in case this can be of any use?

I keep trying to download this:

Shipped ROMs

So that i can try the other way to downgrade but it only downloads about 600k then stops each time....

Any more ideas anyone? Its looking like i might have to get a new contract :-(

you cant downgrade without teppics downgrader

if the downgrader cannot see the phone its because youve not enabled debugging on the device and the drivers are not installed

I have debugging on and set it to disk mode but the computer does not show it up in 'my computer'

I can only get the pc to see the phone via fastboot

*Just downloading the other RUU now, won't get time to try it tonight but i'll update tomorrow/weds

Thanks for all the help so far guys

When i plug it in i dont get prompted to set any modes though.

I have changed it to charge only in the settings but this has made no difference?

Looked in device manager and i cant see the phone in there. It does make a nosie when i connect/disconnect the phone though.

it should be seen as android device > myHTC

you dont need to set a mode if debugging is enabled and you should have an icon on the statusbar of the device for debugmode

When i connect it the deivce comes up as other devices and then under it:

Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM
Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM
Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM
Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM

@ Eddy that RUU is the one im running now, my hboot is too high to run the downgrade procedure and i need a lower version i think?

Any ideas?

What exactly says your hboot is too new to run downgrade proceedure?

With an RUU, it can only be the same version or newer, but teppic74's downgrade tool should be able to downgrade anything.

Unfortunately, the downgrade tool is the only way to get a lower version of anything.

CDMA? you are not GSM?

EDIT you must be GSM due to your versions at the top.
basically youve borked your driver install
connect the device and uninstall those qualcomm things
disconnect the device and turn off debugging
Reinstall HTC sync (the latest if you can)
connect the device and let it install the drivers again
enable debugging on phone and let it install the myHTC driver

now you should be able to use the downgrader and debog should show as connected on the device

Mine did that too when I had issues - it's to do with the modem and not the type of phone

@trancehead

where in the UK are you? If you're near Liverpool I'll do it for you...

I think i read that on anther bit when i was trying to create a goldcard

I have made a goldcard now but cant follow these instructions
[HOWTO] Downgrade Froyo (2.2) to Stock 2.1 (ANY HBOOT | WIN/LINUX/MAC | ROOT) - xda-developers

because it won't connect to the pc still..

_ it says "This downgrade is not suitable for CDMA phones." and by the looks of it my pc thinks its CDMA now..

No it should be GSM i thought...

I uninstalled the Qualcomm drivers (all 3)
Disconnected phone
Installed HTC Sync
Rebooted phone, once at the home screen connected to pc

& it keeps looking for Qualcomm drivers on windows update.

:-(

Thanks for the offer Eddy but im pretty much in Dover! With fuel costs i would be halfway to buying on outright :-)

Is it the Qualcomm thing that is to do with the modem?

Can you tell me how you would fix it and i'll try from here?

Qualcomm is the the manufacturer of the chipset (CPU etc) so it could be modem.

So you definitely cant see the phone from the PC at all? Disk drive or anything anymore?
