Amazon App Store Thread - Daily Free Apps

Flight Control has test drive before you buy and the test drive looks like low end graphics to me. Does the live version show better?

Not every game has to be about the graphics in order to be popular. Millions of people play Mafia Wars and that doesn't have any animated graphics at all.
 
As soon as I installed talking tom I uninstalled the free one, then went to move new one to SD and my phone locked up. After a restart half of my app's aren't showing up anymore. The shortcuts say 'not installed'. Every app on my sd isn't working and card is fine, i'm browsing it with astro with no problems.....

I'm like WTF! not saying its amazon's fault but it was literally the only thing I did on my phone before hand.....

Edit: 3 hours later, 2 battery pulls, 2 unmount sd card, and 5 restarts everything went back to normal. I think i will actually be a little more selective on how much i get from them. I've been downloading and installing EVERYTHING, even the shit i don't really want, just cause its free... maybe thats why i have well over 275 apps on my phone, lol


On Topic: it seems the paid tom cat installed straight to SD?? Anyone else notice this?

That seems to tell me one thing: that this may be the last day for free Rio

No, my guess would be that's it's just more promotion for the upcoming movie on April 15th, they probably will keep free till the movie is released or even after for a while.
 
If I uninstall a paid game that I got during the free promo, can I reinstall it free later. I know you can install those games free on another phone if you log in with the same amazon account, so I'd assume so.

Also, the 1 click makes it so easy to get this, but I guess the same goes for paid apps. Is it possible/easy to buy a paid app on accident.

No return policy at all on amazon?

Yes well sort of. I had the Amazon AppStore and got some free app of the days. I then decided to install a different ROM and didn't back up the AppStore. When I downloaded it and then opened it, it game me a message that said five apps need to install. It installed the Free Apps of the day free. If You acutually go into the AppStore and hit uninstall an app it might be different.
 
Does anyone know whether the free app 'o the day from Amazon stays free when updates occur for the app on the Google Market? I ask because I downloaded the Soundhound Infinity as a free app for the day and it recently showed on the market as being updated. When I tried updating, I was routed to the purchase screen.

If you go in to the Amazon App Store app click on Menu and then My Apps. There is a tab at the top for Update Available. The SoundHound Update is in there. That is where you will have to go to view updates for the apps you get from Amazon.

I had this happen to all my apps installed to SD. It seemed that after a reboot that it took a few minutes (not sure how long since I stopped looking at my phone because I was tired of waiting) everything seemed to just start working fine.

1 click makes it easy to buy an app in error, there is no "Do You want to purchase this verification. You click buy and it is yours. Apps are non-refundable.

Settings>applications>manage application click on the app you wish to uninstall, and uninstall

There is no way to uninstall within the app store. I have uninstalled a free app of the day and reinstalled it later with no issues. Try going to the app store press menu and click my apps. All the apps you got as free apps of the day should be listed as purchased.

Quit using app brain. If you got an app from Amazon, Google does not know about it therefore Google would not provide support for the app amazon will. Go to the app store, click menu, click my apps, the second tab is for updates, if any app you got from Amazon has an update available that where you will update it.
 
does anyone know what the deal is with today's free app "Angry Birds Rio (Ad-Free)"? i installed Rio on the very first day Amazon App Store went live and i don't remember seeing any ads in that version... is there any difference in the two? i don't want to risk losing all my progress, otherwise i would just download this one and see what the difference is. please advise.

The version you have is Ad Free. As of today Angry Birds Rio (With Ads) is available in the Android Marketplace for free. They just want to make sure you know your free version from them is better then the one in the Android Marketplace.

Actually the ad supported version has been on the Android market for a few days now.

I was able to uninstall the unwanted apps but when I go to "My Apps" in th Amazon appstore it lists the ones I have on my phone with an option to "Open" and the ones I uninstalled with an option to "Install". Is there a way to have the ones I uninstalled to not show up at all? Thanks for the help.

Why do you want to remove them? They are not taking up any space and in case you want to install them again in the future you can do so without paying for them (I am not certain about the not paying, someone might be able to confirm that). The amazon app store lists all the apps you have purchased through them similar to your purchase history on Amazon.com. It is just to show you a record of past transactions.

No, these are attached to you Amazon account.
 
Just a heads up to everyone...I was scrolling though the app store this morning, and my screen got choppy for a sec and I accidentally clicked on the buy button for stupid Fruit Ninja. I was automatically charged for this app. Ok, fine...it was my fault, I should have been more careful, yada yada yada.

The problem is...when I first installed the app store the day it opened, I had 1-click turned off. In addition to this, I removed my credit card on file with Amazon. Even today, I went out and verified, and it says I have no account on file.

So, not only did the 1-click still work when I had it disabled...It also charged my card that was no longer assigned to my account. This is definitely a problem and an email has been sent to customer service.

It is definitely not the $.99 that I am pissed about. It is the principal and the fact that I was charged in the first place.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up and to just be careful and keep an eye on your account.
 
Yeah they need to fix that with the buy button. What is there email? I want to tell them that it would be nice to add a prompt after hitting buy app that says are you sure u want to buy this app.

I do like how they added ad free next to the .99 to avoid confusion.
