Amazon App Store Thread - Daily Free Apps

Why do you want to remove them? They are not taking up any space and in case you want to install them again in the future you can do so without paying for them (I am not certain about the not paying, someone might be able to confirm that). The amazon app store lists all the apps you have purchased through them similar to your purchase history on Amazon.com. It is just to show you a record of past transactions.

I was looking at it as never wanting them again and thought it just created clutter. I guess your point is, I got them for free and uninstalled them and if I want them back in the future I could reinstall them at no cost even though at that time they would be a paid app. Looking at it that way I guess it makes sense to keep them in the list.

AT&T had all this time to get their act together and they blew it. No free Rio for them since today is the last day.

Just a heads up to everyone...I was scrolling though the app store this morning, and my screen got choppy for a sec and I accidentally clicked on the buy button for stupid Fruit Ninja. I was automatically charged for this app. Ok, fine...it was my fault, I should have been more careful, yada yada yada.

The problem is...when I first installed the app store the day it opened, I had 1-click turned off. In addition to this, I removed my credit card on file with Amazon. Even today, I went out and verified, and it says I have no account on file.

So, not only did the 1-click still work when I had it disabled...It also charged my card that was no longer assigned to my account. This is definitely a problem and an email has been sent to customer service.

It is definitely not the $.99 that I am pissed about. It is the principal and the fact that I was charged in the first place.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up and to just be careful and keep an eye on your account.

Yeah I think probably lot of people agreed to all these terms from amazon but don't think they read the fine print when signing up.

People will complain to Amazon and their customer service will be bogged down. appstore should have some confirmation dialog to prevent accidents.

I honestly hope it does get some sort of pop up or confirmation page. That is a good feature of the Market so you don't accidently purchase an app and it would be in good faith for Amazon to follow suit however based on the TOU they don't have to change it, people will still use the Amazon appstore purely because it has a free paid app a day.

I just sent an email to Amazon and suggest others do the same, when you log into Amazon from your PC at the app store there is a button for customer service and it allows you to send an email directly to the app store cust service.

I advised them that when browsing the apps on a cell phone it is very easy to accidentially hit the "buy app" button in error, because cell phone screens are very touch sensitive. I suggested that they consider adding a confirmation dialog pop up to prevent accidents such as "are you sure you want to download this app?" yes or no.

If enough people ask them maybe they will consider it. Complaining about it here won't do much good. :)

The free apps is a good marketing move since Android users will tend to check the Amazon App Store every day to find out what is free for that day.

Not to mention they have discounts on apps the market doesn't, if I am going to make a purchase I'll check amazon first to see if it is cheaper

Too bad you still have to register a credit card with amazon..
I can't even get the free apps because I don't have one -.-

Could you get one of those not really a credit card credit cards? The ones you can put money on and just do something like $5?

It might work, but I have no idea, just an idea.

Can you sign up for one of those online? I havn't heard of any options like that in Belgium.
Anyway, I prefer PayPal for everything, why can't android just support it, as was said to be announced =/

Yes you could. Those pre-loaded debit cards act as a credit card. However, they have an expiration date, and once you hit that it starts to pull money out of the card every month. Not to mention the initial activation fee is like $6 and the minimum cards are like $25.

It's just easier to give Amazon your real credit card. I'm not sure how big Amazon is outside of the US, but to those in another country I can assure you Amazon is very reputable and a safe site to give information to.

The market doesn't support papal as google checkout is a direct competitor. Amazon uses their own payment method as well. You can use papal on android just not to buy most apps

It's not a matter of giving out my credit card info. It's simply a matter of not having one. I pay everything directly.
But thanks for the info, I had never bothered with those pre-paid cards. I'm assuming something like PaySafe is what you mean.. I'll consider that :)

I don't have a credit card either, a debit card works fine

...or so it should. They keep telling me my card number is incorrect when trying to register my Maestro debit card.
I'm 100% sure it's the right number. Thanks for chiming in tho :)

You also don't want to sound like a complainer. It is more effective when you can make the case that it is THEIR best interest to prevent a deluge of accidental purchases.

This version of Backbreaker is not for tegra 2 devices (atrix, xoom, etc). Android market has that one and you can find all tegra 2 games with the Tegra Zone app.

Exactly, I did not post my whole message on the board no need for that but I gave them alot of positive feedback.

I already got a response from them:

"Thank you for taking the time to write us about your experiences with the Amazon Appstore. We always like to hear from our customers, and we are taking all suggestions like this and passing them along. New services like this always change, we see what we are missing, and change it so that your experience is the best it can be. Customer feedback like yours really helps us continue to improve our store and provide better service to our customers. Thanks for taking time to offer us your thoughts.

If you do have any orders that were accidental, you can email us with the order numbers and we can refund those for you. We know that accidents happen, and would be happy to refund you.

We hope to see you again soon."

I think that is a great response. :)
