AMOLED on new desire?

So as I bought my Desire in October 18 I thought I have SLCD and as on my box it shows - 3.7-inch touch-sensitive screen but two days ago I bought Desire Z for my mom and compareing those two phones you can easly tell that my Desire has better white and black color, so my Desire is AMOLED? And how come my Desire is AMOLED if I bought it in October?
Model - A8181

htc didnt stop producing devices with amoled permanently. there was a shortage from samsung.

best way to tell is if you put on a black wall paper and turn out the light.
if you see a bluish white clow around the sides then its slcd

well then I have AMOLED, I put black wallpaper on Desire and Desire Z, turn light off in room and I could see bluish white only in Desire Z and my Desire black looks completely black.

Maybe HTC own branded ones are more likely to have amoled? Just a thought

i highly doubt it, manufacture process it pretty much automated.

its more likely that amoled are back in stock from samsung now their flagship device has been out long enough.

there are standard htc devices with slcd as well

It should say Amoled on the back of the box, unless they've changed the packaging.

hes already said, hes done the test
they probably will not change the packaging back now as there is no need to.
they only changed the packaging before as it would be a lie
now its just a touch screen which is the truth regardless of model

where can I find it?

settings>about phone> software information

what screen do i have, i got mine very late august, on back order from vodafone, on my box it just says Large 3.7 inch display.....
