Help Android 2.1 Update

the reset issue is only on my phone, its STILL in the repair shop being "fixed" I was wandering if maybe a simple reflash in download moade isung the kdz Upd in CS_Emergency would have fixed it.. but.. i dont have the phone with me.. soo im stuck.. and going stir crazy without it!

Thanks folks, I have 2.1 Eclair now up and running on my GT540, feels better, and super live wallpapers. The first page in this discussion group with all the instructions is what you have to follow, and keep in mind dont touch that USB cable and make sure your laptop has enough power.

Anyone, what about Froyo? :) 2.2 is that a possibility?, greedy you see!

dudeman1996 your post is very missleading i know Lg said its now avalible in the UK but technicly its still not as o2 and 3 networks are still not released, Maybe this is why people keep posting in the forums saying there phone wont update,

As far as i know the update has been release for, Orange, Vodaphone, and Carphone Warehouse,

Sorry for that, i just saw the twitter post from LG and thought it would work for everyone..

Still not updating through the LG updater though :( only had the phone 6 weeks but want to update before I go about installing too much.

Just checked the updater and only CPW and Vodaphone are showing as SW V2.0 everyone else is V1.0
 
It says an error for me. Something like wpara 100 lpara1010.
I tried it two times, but nothing. Fortunately only the first emergency screen came up, but the phone is still working otherwise. I did everything as it said. Do I have to choose the option 3gqct or 3gqct smart phone?

You must choose 3GQCT not smartphone from the dropdown list, otherwise the update will not work.
 
Hi all

Just completed upgrade to 2.1 officially through the LG site and download software. I'm in the UK and on the 02 network. Wouldn't work earlier today but all worked perfectly an hour ago

SCL Could you explain a little more on how you updated? Because my lg support tool is still saying im at the latest version did you do it the official way or unofficial?

ExHuMeD, I upgraded officially through the correct means in the UK. Make sure you have the latest USB drivers installed and also the latest 'mobile sync' software. These are both available from your LG mobile support tool software that you use to check your phones firmware version (on the right, under 'model' and 'version' text). I just connected my phone and it said an upgrade was available, allowing me to click on the big 'start updating' button that has previously always been greyed out. That's all I know! It all seems pretty slow and clonky software from LG....

2.1 seems to work just fine, and pretty smoothly. Not a huge difference to be honest, but nice to have live wallpapers (pretty CPU intensive though...) and tweaks here and there. Screen seems more vibrant and contrasty too?
 
Did you get your phone from carphone warehouse? as i have the latest drivers and latest software and my o2 branded phone still wont update,
 
I got it from an O2 shop so its locked to them I'd assume. Was amazed when it decided to upgrade as loads of problems reported on LGs own site blog
 
I'm having trouble updating via the LG Updater. Everytime it reaches 4% on the updater, it come up with an error:

Runtime Error!

Program: ...\Application Data\LGMOBILEAX\B2C_Client\LGUserCSTool.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Anyone had any similar problems and if there's no solution has anyone tried updating on a mac using boot camp?

OK I tried this yesterday through the updater and it didn't work , it got stuck at thirty percent and had to take battery out to get it working again. Tried again later and lg PC suite wouldn't recognise my phone so had to re install the usb drivers and try again, this time the updater said there was no update for my phone despite PC suite saying there was! but I carried on and on the seventh attempt it worked and updated to 2.1, so just keep trying and it should work OK.



The colours seem brighter and I like the new interfaces but it seems like I have to press the screen a little harder

1) If i install 2.1 which language do i get, russian or english ?
2) I unlocked my Lg gt540 from meteor network, will it get locked to the original mobile network.
3) will there any othe problems regarding battery life, mobile freezing , etc ??

According to the folks over at MoDaCo and in Russia, it is now available.

LG GT540 Optimus - GT540.MoDaCo.com - Android @ MoDaCo

Firstly, if you don't want to lose the information in your current apps, download ASTRO File Manager and back up all your Application data. Then you can download them all again and have the settings etc. you had before.

1. Download, save and extract the following to the desktop:

KDZ File: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/GT540/ABALBK/V20B_00/V20B_00.kdz
KDZ FW UPdater: ????????????? ?????????????
LG Android Driver: ????????????? ?????????????

2. Install LG Android Driver.
3. On your phone, go to Settings > Applications > Development and set phone into debugging.
4. Connect phone via USB Cable.
5. Run Windows Enabler from the file you extracted above, and when it appears in the Task Bar (Bottom right) click the icon in the task bar ONCE, and it will display as 'On.'
6. Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe. Select 3GQCT in the drop-down menu, which is greyed out. Then Browse to where the KDZ 2.1 file is. (Desktop? V20B_00.kdz) Press the long button just above the information screen, and leave it for a good five to ten minutes. Your phone will enter Emergency Mode two or three times, however you need not do anything. Do not unplug it, do not power your computer down and don't interrupt the process. Your phone will start up completely formatted, and when the KDZ updater has finished, you can unplug your phone and use it again, with 2.1 installed.

Once done, you can delete all files off your desktop and uninstall whatever you don't need to use again.
 
20b was out about 1 month ago....

Currently (15th Dec) LG have pulled the updates to solve problems...
