Android 2.2 [Froyo] Bugs and Questions - Post em Here

First update bricked my first droid as well

Second update has now bricked my second droid, anyone else? It reboots and gets passed the moto screen but then is hanging at the doid red eye and will go no further.

Well, I kinda have this problem. When I boot up my Droid, the screen locks for about 10 minutes, then reboots itself...and then is OK. I have to do this about 2 times a day as I put in a new battery because of the AWFUL battery life. I'm gradually taking apps off looking to see what might be causing this to happen.

My Navigation takes forever to find my location now. I don't remember ever having a problem with this before the update for flash.

I am still having WiFi issues. This is starting to get lame very quick.

FYI, I had wifi issues and went through every security setting, routing config, etc to try and get it to play well with my DLink 655 in anything other than G only. I finally just bought a cheap G router to dedicate to the 2 D1s in my house. As for connecting to wifi in the wild, I just gave up on it.

Then my D1 screen went out and I had to replace it with a warranty replacement. That D1, too, would not connect properly to the router (or any other one running mixed mode). The "U" key on the replacement D1 ended up being faulty so I have to send it back. I explained to the V rep that I have now had 3 D1's that will not play well with wifi and asked for a D2 as replacement. He asked if I could connect to the Verizon Net. I said yes and he said, "it sound like a Motorolla issue then, I can give you their number if you want to call them."

Bottom line: 2.2 jacked the wifi on the D1 and I've heard nothing about a fix.

I am with you. Frustrating.

Re: Can't connect to Wifi afer 2.2 update - Page 2 - Verizon Wireless Community my handle on there is EricS336 Look at what I did that fixed my problem.

This is not really on the exact topic of the thread, but some posts mentioned the missing alarm clock. To put it back, you can install the Alarm Clock Launcher app. No setup required, no worries.

You can install it from here
Or just read about it here

If you like it, please be sure to buy the donate version here!

Disclaimer: I made the app, and I think it's awesome :)

Verizon ended up replacing my phone. My 3 - 4 hour battery time went back to the normal time between charging of about 18 hours.

I unplugged my phone at 7:00 AM today and at 3:51 PM, I am sitting on 80% left. :-)

This may be here, forgive me if it is, didn't see it.... Anyway, when I'm in text app, stock, if I hit the previous screen button, I go back to the previous app that I had open before texting. I close that app, go to home screen, try to open texting app and it opens to a different app. Have to turn phone off to get texting back. Doesnt happen all the time, never happened before 2.2 update..any ideas, or has someone else had this problem?

Just tried to open the Market program (first time since updating to 2.2) and it keeps giving an "an error has occurred" message and won't open it. I went into application settings and cleared cache. But doesn't resolve this issue.:(

I haven't seen anyone else report this as a bug...

(BTW I was surprised to see that Flash was already in my applications list- as that is what I was originally going to the market for; must have downloaded on the update?)

Moto Droid,Stock 2.2, forced frg22d from megavideo.com

Returning to homescreen from keyboard, browser or heavy app, icons do not show up for up to 10 - 14 seconds

I've been digging around and no one seems to have a definitive answer for the redraw lag. Most advice has been to reinstall and/or root, but even root users are still experiencing this problem. Are there people that don't have this issue, because i'd rather hear from them. I just wanted to say that if you're having this same problem, there doesn't seem to be a solid solution at the moment.

I'm also unhappy with the auto memory manager which negates the auto taskillers. You can now view programs running through your application manager (settings), but there are programs running in the background long after i've exited from them.

My mom just ota updated to 22d and it bricked her phone. Verizon's about to start handling the iphone and are going to start tiering their data plans. I'm really not that impressed with verizon at the moment.

help!! i updated to froyo 2.2. last nite on my HTC Desire and the camera is still the same as the old version, so is my home page and the Android market as well?

I had my Droid X for 9 hours then updated with the 2.2OTA and it bricked my phone. It had 2.1 on it out of the box. When it was down loading it said 2.3.1 then when it re booted it only showed the Motorola "M" then shut off and bricked it.
We called Verizon, they first told us they were going to send us a refurbished phone on a new phone now even 24 hours old, then they said I had to pay for a new one. You can guess what I told them. After yelling for a supervisor several times one talked to me and said he sent me a new Droid X. Two days later I received a Droid 2 instead. AHHHHHHHH Now I am waiting for a new Droid X.
Is it normal to see the 2.3.1 on the 2.2 update?? What went wrong?
?

Am I late to this issue. Under the old OS you could use the phone on your desk. Now it continues to go into alarm clock mode after a few minutes. Also while you are on the phone while in cradle phone goes to sleep. This makes the cradle essentially useless. The old OS was much better in this sense.

Never heard of this. That is weird.

Sighs. I uploaded the update when it came out officially. Today, out of the blue, my Droid X died. I am now out of a phone until Verizon sends out a refurbished one tomorrow. I am devastated. I do not know if it has to do with the update or not but I have NEVER had any problems with my phone until today.

Any fix yet for the wifi issue? (Can't connect to corporate wifi, WPA2 etc.) This is a pretty major feature that 2.2 broke. 2.1 worked fine, I could connect to all the access points as I walked around our 3 factories. Since 2.2, been having the same problem many others are. I am really surprised they have not fixed it yet. And there is no way the company will change the way the access points are configured and secured just so my droid can connect.

Not sure if this is google, verizon or motorola's fault but it is a MAJOR FEATURE that they broke!

I manually installed Froyo on a Motorola Droid from one of the available sites prior to the OTA update. I've experienced some slowness and my phone locking up. Can I revert back to the last good version and then update via my Settings/About Phone menu item?

I have numerous issues with the bluetooth voice dialing. Besides the fact that it often gets the wrong name or number no matter how clearly I speak once it connects, it turns off the bluetooth and I need to touch the screen button on the phone dialing page to turn it back on. Not all the time, but often.

Also after using the bluetooth voice dialing it often locks up the phone so bad I need to take the battery out to unlock it. I mean come on...voice dialing from a bluetooth headset has been around for years on any phone..this is a little ridiculous that they still have not gotten this to work properly. Again, not all the time but often.

Moto Droid.

Telstar.

Battery life is terrible on my Moto Droid 1. Five hours without really using it and I get the sound to re-charge. I uninstalled and reinstalled ATK to see what happens. Have 2.2 update.

Phone is pretty inconvenient now.

I looked at battery usage today when it was dying, and it showed that Android OS was using most of the juice (28%).

I went to a Verizon store this afternoon to have it checked out and was told to re-install ATK. He also told me I can try "spinning" my battery on a flat surface to see if it is any good still (if it spins, it's going bad). Well, it doesn't spin.

I use my phone for work, both for navigation to get to appointments, and to stay in communication with necessary contacts, so a batter that drains this quickly is not going to work. At this point, my battery is draining even when I have it on my charger if I am using my navigation.

I don't remember any of this happening before my 2.2 update. Before, I was able to go at LEAST a day on one charge.

The phone also locks up more often now to the point where I have to remove the battery to get it going again.

I got the phone in December last year.

I'm having the same problems...I hear a lot of people having problems...what I'm not seeing is Android/Motorola/Verizon doing or saying anything about it...I'm going through three batteries a day with very light use. Is there a set of apps that are causing the problem (I've removed Facebook, Skype, taskkillers, and most...but not all...things that are hunting for status and new info. I still have locale going. I guess if I take them all off, the battery would live...but then why have the phone in the first place...I like it because of the apps.
