Android 2.2 Froyo rolling out for Nexus One Now!

Engadget have confirmed it true now. They have the update now.

I haven't! :( :P

Engadget is showing the exact same picture but wrote there own little story. Seems like a few websites are hungry for a few extra hits this weekend. I'm gonna stick to my beliefs this time "believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see" :D

If anyone gets it, don't restart to install. Copy the update.zip and post it for everyone to enjoy. Then you can restart your phone...

the only outlet i have not seen post this myth is phandroid and i congratulate them for not falling into the hype.!

I know some people here are calling BS, but as little as I trust Techcrunch, I have some faith in Engadget that they wouldn't report BS. They're a good site.

Well, I'll patiently await my Froyo...

ah hell, who am I kidding. I WANT IT NOW! NOW! NOWNOWNOWNOWNOW!!!

:D

engadgets report is the same story read elsewhere just with different words. The pics are the same there as it is everywhere as well/ Its an epic fail

Oh come on, it's not an "epic fail." Don't you ever pay attention to these news blogs? Most of the time stories are just reposts of other stories from other sources.

The fact is that Engadget says they got an update themselves. That's why I'm saying we shouldn't call BS. Are you saying that they're lying about getting the update? I honestly don't know why they'd do that. And it's not just TC and Engadget, as the story links to Twitter posts from others who have received the update.

If you look at both Techcrunch and Engadet's articles you can see they have updated the articles with a confirmation from Google that a slow roll out of the software has begun.

Here's some more info. There's a guy on Twitter telling people how to force the phone to check the provisioning servers to see if it's ready for an update.

1- go to the dialer
2- enter the following: *#*#2432546#*#*
3- wait up to 30 seconds

Apparently if you get a message saying "checkin: sucess" that means you aren't in a provisioned block yet, and you should check back in later (I'll probably be doing it every 2-3 hours ;)

I didn't get it, sadly, but on the plus side it made my phone see app updates that were waiting :)

So you're saying that MG Sigler, a well known tech journalist, is straight up lying? And that Engadget, which is now saying they have also gotten the OTA on their handset, is lying? I guess I do believe this is real, but there's no guarantee this is a full-scale rollout.

yea i just saw the update my bad. seems it is only going out to the special people with clout. not to us commoners

Just remember guys these folks were given their phones by google and there is no reason they cant block out press devices for ota up front of the full rollout to build up extra press for the release and give folks reviews to drool over.

Looks like review units only for now as per engadget:

"Update 3: We've done some additional investigation, and as far as we can tell Google is only updating review Nexus Ones that had been provided to the press -- not off-the-shelf phones. We'll stay on this and let you know more as soon as we do"

for me there is no need. its not like over a million n1 where sold like the droid. World wide you would be lucky to hit 350-400 grand units sold. there is no reason for such a staggered release. 20-30 grand every couple of hours would be fine and acceptable. why they want more press? I/O wasnt enough?!

somebody please explain to me why if this did take place the guys over at tech, engadget, etc did not record the update taking place? seriously? makes me doubt it heavily
