Android 2.3 & 4.0 WiFi Internet HD 1080P HDMI Google TV Box ARM Cortex A9 Firmware

Hi to all,

about f16ref problem with browser, problem has been isolated, now making new build... if all goes well, official fw will be released during the day...

And yes, thanx to all for beers :)

UPDATE: Nothing with that guys... one of bugs that kernel was configured for board with 1 Gb of RAM. That's fixed now... But Browser issue remains.... needs more debugging....

Hi to all,

I have DVB-T tuner GoClever Android BOX 500, can I install without any problems the latest (I think) firmware: 20120621_Android_ICS-ATV-108-c03ref.zip ?

I checked my device with "DeviceChecker.apk" and it showed that I have:

MBX DVBT reference board (c03ref)
Board: MBX
Name: c03ref
Device: c03ref
Board: c03ref

My current firmware is 2.3.4.

There is no reset button in my box, but I figured out how to boot up "Android system recovery utility" and there are some options like:

1. Reboot system now.
2. Apply update.
3. Wipe data/Factory reset. (So I think there is some recovery partition so I don't need recovery on SD)
4. Wipe cache partition.
5. Wipe media partition.
6. Set efuse item (Don't now for what is it).

Thanks in advance for answer.

Hi Stane, how do we get the "alpha" versions macyer is talking about ? On the V-Play page I see no update for C03REF version and I really want BT support :)

Thanks !

Ok, I took a chance and tried to install "20120621_Android_ICS-ATV-108-c03ref.zip" from pendrive but it showed me an error:

Code:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Veryfying update package...
Installing update...

assert failed: |less_than_int(1340270894. getprop("ro.build.date.utc"))
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)

Installation aborted.

Box is working fine on old firmware.
What should I do?

Thanks in advance for help.

I'm working on kernel modifications.... there is problem with nand driver and partitions are not mounted property which results in Android not booting (just linux kernel). Working on that... About alpha version, there is no alpha version, it's beta1 version for f16ref devices. Working on both devices, should be done this weekend for both devices (f16ref fw will become available before c03ref).

First, fw should be installed with sdcard, my fw and recovery never tested with usb sticks... Not even sure if Visson fw can be installed with usb stick.

Second, error you're getting should mean that you're trying to install older version of fw than you have installed. That error should mean that, but since you tried to install from pendrive, I can't be really sure about that.

Try to obtain sdcard and install with sdcard.

Btw, which firmware do you have installed?

Ok, I will try right now to do it, but how can I install firmware on SD card, thanks?

Check this link I think it's from my box.

System version Android: 2.3.4
Kernel version: 2.6.34 kazhuoy@ThinkCenter #2
Compilation number: GB.MBX.20120621
Software version: 20111220.012v-20120319.014v-22120621T

It seems that your box is using different wifi device than Vissons (Visson uses Realtek 8192cu based wifi module). Do you have any original firmware version which I can check and see which wifi module you have?

Nope I don't have :| is it bad?

But I have some option in recovery mode "set efuse item" and I can update there mac adress for ethernet, it's for Wi-Fi?

Please explain, how it's not working? BT device is not recognized or...? It's working just fine with my Canyon BT dongle (Broadcom chipset)...

It doesn't even connect... I was trying to connect with a Bluetooth mouse, but when i tried, it didn't connect. I have a usb BT and i'm going to try it...

You did it without plugging in BT dongle in the box? :) Doesn't work that way... Box doesn't have BT module built in, option is there to allow to use USB BT dongles with device.... :)

Plug in your usb BT dongle, wait 10-15 seconds for dongle to be initialized by kernel and then turn on BT in settings. That should work for most BT devices.

I always thought it had BT built in. Gonna try my BT dongle... Thanks, again...
About the CPU, any news?

Hi, stane1983

Some guy have the same box like me, so is it possible to backup factory firmware from his box so I can downgrade to my factory firmware?
Or maybe I need factory firmware from GoClever support?

Can I send you original remote.conf file from my factory firmware and you implement it in your custom firmware, because I want to have working remote controler, is it possible anyway?

Btw. about Wi-Fi, my box hasn't MAC Adress, it showing "Unavailable", so it must be the problem.

Thanks in advance for help.

Hello,
I recently purchased the same unit and it arrived today. I think there is some problem with the unit right out of the box. when I plug in the power connector, the red and the blue lights lit up for a few seconds and afterwards the blue one starts blinking. When i connect the unit to my TV, I receive e strange message on the TV, saying Mode not supported. Tried with another TV and I get the same thing. Any ideas what might be the problem? Could this be a faulty unit, or some other problem, probably with the firmware? I haven't tried upgrading the firmware yet, I want to first check what unit do I have, but it seams that the unit cannot load properly. I also tired with different HDMI cables and i get the same problem. Any ideas?

Hi Navaros

I've got a box quite similar to yours and CoyoteX (GV-13 Cortex A9 Android 4.0.3 TV Box WIFI HDMI supports USB Camera Market). I'm suffering audio/video out of sync.
It's good to know that Slane's f/w works in this boxes, as I don't expect the manufacturer to make a new version of the fw.
How did you manage to get XBMC to work smoothly? In my case it's a bit choppy.
How do you connect a coax cable to the box?
Once the remote issue is solved, I think I will give it a try.

Best Regards

I had the out of sync audio/video as well... until I installed Stan's FW. That took care of most issues with my box. Right now the only possible problem could be the audio out (digital over coax)... but I can only comment after his new FW gets released. Just a few more days :)

XBMC was just a straight install and it worked. But the first time it was a bit choppy as well. A reboot fixed that and now all is working better than it ever has. Note that XBMC uses the SD card to store settings and config. Changing the card gets rid of all your settings.

On the coax cable... I haven't tried it yet, but bought a cable yesterday that may work. Only $3 so if it doesn't work it won't hurt. It has a 3.5mm male jack at one end and a male RCA connector on the other end.

I think, for my personal use and assuming that the surround sound will work using the coax cable, that the box I have with Stane's FW and XBMC will be the most powerful media player on the market (hardware improvements set aside). XBMC is capable of connecting to sources that other players can't use properly and it is really built for digital media consumption and does this better than anything else. But the ATV has some features that bring a full computer to the party and the android platform will see tons of development over the next few years I believe. So this will be a winning combo in my opinion.

XBMC for android is open source project, available here. When I finish all the stuff regarding fw for c03ref and f16ref, I'll try to optimize xbmc for my firmware (eg. no sdcard needed for storing configs etc 'cause we have plenty of internal memory)...

Coax might work out of the box with all my firmwares, it's just I cannot test it cause ATV-108 doesn't have digital output. There just might be need to enable it in settings -> Sound.

Hi,

first, you should connect all cables before powering the box on :)
Second, unsupported mode might be a problem that your TV cannot display resolution that box sends to tv (default should be 720p, but maybe you got used box and resolution was changed). You tried to let it go for cpl of minutes and see what happens?

Third, without any sdcard, use paperclip and press reset button and hold it until leds blink 3 times... That will do factory reset of the box. After that box should work normal.

Regards

Please contact GoClever support to get latest firmware for your box. You can send the link to fw to me and I'll see what I can do about it :)

So it's not possible to backup firmware from factory device?
My help is only GoClever support? :|

Btw. it's possible to you to add DVB-T drivers in your new firmware?

Thanks in advance for answer.

Either GoClever support or any other firmware that works fine with your device so I can extract needed files from it.

Adding Amlogic DVB-T driver to the kernel image is not problem at all, I just didn't add it because it was useless for Visson devices. Will add it to configuration, not a problem...

How can I know, that some firmware is working with my device?
I think DeviceChecker is showing to less information.

I tried T1_Android_OS_4.0 from this site DVR VOD By URAKU ,and device showed me the same error which I had sometime ago, but this time I did update from this manual: http://www.uraku.asia/userimg/product/0000000028/0000000106_man.pdf ,maybe I should do it in other way?
