I'm still sitting on my 4.1.2 for Verizon. Everyday for the past two months I get the pop-up saying I have a system update available. And everyday I default it to the next. I do not want 4.3 and if Verizon funks up 4.4 then I won't want that either.

I wont install it. I installed it on my wife's Moto G and otg usb doesn't work any more. You can get some of the functionality back by installing apps but I cant back up to usb stick now. Google seem to have deliberately removed otg from KitKat to force people to use the cloud.

Nah i dont think thats right.
The nexus' still have otg on kitkat.
Maybe moto removed it? (Doubt it)
It certainly doesnt mean samsung's update will have problems

Yeah, Funky is correct because that it's still in 4.4.x because I have it on my Nexus 5. It sounds like it might be a Motorola specific disable.

if you want kit kat why wait for samsung? ive been running cm11 and it is rock solid! battery is great (imo)

yup this s3 is running as fast as anything i can imagine on near aosp kk ;)

SG7 will be out by the time VZW releases it.

will this erase my flappy bird? o.O

Lol even if it does, the apk is floating around in cyberspace until you want to sell your phone to an idiot for an extra 100bucks :D

Sorry if I misinformed people. If KitKat is running with otg on other devices then I must be mistaken. I'm still a bit confused though. I thought the moto g just had basic android with virtually nothing changed. So I would have thought if android have removed otg support that would affect all devices. Fortunately it looks like I am mistaken.
The thing is with my wifes phone is you can add apps that allow you to watch video etc. from a usb stick but you don't seem to be able to write to usb. Which is a bit annoying because I had just bought an app. to back up her phone to usb.

Nexus Media Importer is the app you need.

I would update iff tethering becomes available as it is on 4.1.2. Can't live w/o tethering.

Although I a rarely use that feature, that is the biggest reason I'm not updating, that and the shortcut feature for the camera on the lock screen. Heard that was taken away to. Where you rotate your phone and it takes you to the camera.

I have to agree as well. I was once a believer in "Why root??? There is plenty I can do with the stock OS" (So poorly mistaken I was) On a whim, I rooted my phone to CM11 about 2 months ago and will never go back to stock. When I go to my "running" applications, there is an extremely short list of apps working behind the scenes hogging up my battery, as opposed to the pages and pages of battery/RAM eating apps running on stock phones. GO ROOT!!!

BTW, it is extremely easy to do and a bit UN-nerving if you have never done it before. As easy as it is, you will seriously kick yourself in the booty for not rooting sooner. As far as KNOX, who cares!!! Who really returns their phones anyway!!! JMO :p

You notice your phone faster/smoother then stock? My phone doesn't lag at all. And there are skins/roms that resemble touch whiz? I happen to like it. What directions did you follow and are they pretty much spelled out for you?

Aosp Roms are way faster than stock touchwiz.

So much so that I had to stop using touchwiz Roms on my S3.

You don't notice it until you realize how fast it should be ;)

Yeah you realize how much the samsung firmware is bogging down a fast phone that can still keep up after nearly 2yrs :)

I have been running kitkat version of OmniROM, and have to agree it is lightning and works really well. The only things that I miss are things like smartstay, outputting to TV via USB port and the samsung allshare. If these could be implemented into OmniROM then sorted .... these would be the only reason I would think about going back to stock on kitkat when available

Yes, I keep hearing how easy it is; but when I go to XDA and look at the steps I get all confused and scared! Perhaps you can specify the steps for us scairdy cats :) I and many more would be very grateful.
