android 4.4?

Just got back a lil while ago from metro store checkin out the L70. I must say it's not bad, it's gonna fly off the shelves.

Here's the unlock codes for the following devices. I'm not responsible for what you do with your device. I'm simply passing along some info. I would post this in a thread of its own, but don't see much need for this.

I have not tried any of this!

F6:
2945#*500#

F3:
2945#*659#

L70:
2945#*323#

L9:
2945#*769#

Here's a video to walk you through the process

;)

I believe these are digits to dial to get to the unlock menu. You still need to get the unlock code from your carrier or from another source, right?

I haven't tried any of this so I don't know. Was just passing along some info I ran into.

Edit:
Saw link in video description that might answer your question

Also keep in mind, to unlock Metro phones you need the carrier unlock code, at least for the F6. That's what I needed to unlock mine.

I hate to be a downer, but I don't think T Metro will give the F6 a kitkat update. We had the same experience on the LG Connect. Very similar device (chip-set wise), but it never got an OS update. Gingerbread forever. A couple other forum members asked around about it and pretty much got the run around. Metro said LG had to provide it, LG said metro had to provide it. I think it's all gonna come down to if T metro wants to take the time to load their bloatware onto kitkat and release it.

I really hope I wrong, because I want kitkat.

Actually LG can release KK update for international F6's, not just specific to MetroPCS, whether Metro picks it up would only point the finger at them. But LG can do it even without Metro, and those of us who want it can always flash the international version & still have it work, just not customized experience. So MetroPCS is more honest when they say LG has to release it. LG is using excuses when saying MetroPCS has to support it.

From what I understand Metro has nothing to do with adding in bloatware, that's all handled by LG, the developers at LG make the rom update, add in the carrier specific bloatware and ship out the update via website and OTA.. MetroPCS is just a carrier, not a tech guru company employing a staff to get the rom from LG, add in the stuff then release it.

Prepaid no contract phone carriers that offer these phones like Metro aren't first or top priority for Phone manufacturers like LG, that's why the F6 is next to last on that list of devices getting the update.

I've emailed lg like 3 times and each time they've told me that that they don't have any info on the realse and that it was up to the carrier to release it. I just want a definite yes or no as to whether or not the f6 is actually getting the update. If I know then I can rest easy.

I emailed them 4 times now asking the same thing and still haven't gotten a response from them, must be my luck... Also, if it was up to the carrier why is the update received via LG's website or the LG Mobile Support tool or OTA and not Metros site or store itself..

MetroPCS doesn't need the engineers, they just need some people to test the changes requested, before passing it onto us. LG is Metro's customer, and MetroPCS has a lot more swaying power than end customers like us. Depending on how large of volume orders MetroPCS buys from LG, LG can do favors for large customers. And back to whether the F6 has variants internationally, LG can put out a KK update easily that is NOT customized to any carrier, and then depending on how loud or much money carriers around the world want that update for their customers, can persuade them.

I doubt it, at least not a MetroPCS version. MAYBE a international generic KK ROM that's not customized (or customized to another carrier that can be modded slightly to work on our phones). MetroPCS won't officially claim it is compatible so they don't have to dedicate the resources for supporting it.

Well at least this phone is on a list to get updated, even if it's unofficial. That's more then we ever got with the connect. Fingers crossed, but I wont be holding my breath for an official release. Maybe a ROM once we know for sure. Still would be nice for an official release. LG Break me off a piece...

well metro and t mobile are one actually, and driving att & verizon crazy, so as I have been a metro customer since they started I gotta say the update will come to metro , they actually dont seem to ever be concerned with the OS............oh and by the way does ANYONE KNOW A ROOT SOFTWARE THAT WORKS ON THE F6, ALL THE GOOGLED SOFTWARE I TRIED DOES NOT WORK..........AT ALL..........THANKS

To root 12b firmware, unless someone has found another way, I had to flash back to 10i an root, then use ota rootkeeper to back up root, temp unroot, ota update, then restore root. There is a thread in the all things root section that explains the process in more detail. I think it's titled best root method for 12b or something similar

I emailed LG 9 days ago asking them about the 4.4 Update, and yet to of gotten a response. So I feel hopeful, because they didn't say no, but they didn't say yes. So I am staying skeptical.

As far as the lack of development goes, thank this rumored KitKat Update for that. I have had some responses about inquiries I've made telling me, no ones trying to do a port, official mod or work on a phone that's going to get kit kat. They would of wasted their time, and all their work would of been in vain. So they just won't attempt it.

Hey you know we have a team of devs including me working on a port of cm11 last time I checked we had a team of 4 devs see this thread http://androidforums.com/metropcs-optimus-f6-all-things-root/853028-rom-dev-wip-aosp-rom-build.html
