AndyX ROM

I was on 7.1 so not sure if it was just a fault with the ROM itself, obviously feedback your findings in case it was a problem with GOSms and ICS.

Which Launcher are you using, I was using Apex as the TwLauncher didn't work, just had a black screen, did you have the same problem?

Oh dear... Maybe I'll try stock messaging, see if that fixes. It could end up being an issue for me since I message people all the time!

Stock messaging works fine. With GoSMS it is an issue after upgrading to 4.0.3.... :( so I'm using the stock messaging for the time being.

EDIT: on a side note, does anyone notice the poor battery life with 7.1? I am only getting 16 hours and then the phone dies.. :(... I have wiped EVERYTHING before flashing zoo yeah.. :(

Thanks so much! After multiple flashes, 7.1 is now working like a charm.

In the course of extensive googling, I came across a package that would restore the Andyx battery icon and notification/status bar back to stock, but can't seem to find it anymore (it was on some spanish/south american blog). Anyone have a clue?

Also, @hippityhop, I had to revert to 2.3.4 after 2.3.6 because the latter decimated my battery. I have the GSII firmware - XXKG1. As I said, it's 2.3.4, but works great and has all the files you need. When I downgraded, I had to flash the modem and CMS fields in Odin instead of just PDA, but it worked fine. Didn't have to do any wipes, but you might need to if you're going down from ICS.

If you want to try that out, let me know and I'll upload it for you.

Viveku, thanks alot. For now I'll stick with this rom, as ICS is quite enticing to use for me (despite the scrolling problem).
:)

I have no problem with the battery on mine so far. I'm 17 hours in and I'm at 48%

I was calling some people, browsed Youtube videos for a few, texted a lot and it's doing great. :D

Woww thats great. Im 70% at 6 hours. How do you get your battery life like that?

Alright finally up to date. I've got AndyX v7.1 and Siyah 3 beta5. I updated rather than fullwiped. So just went wipe cache, dalvik cache, battery stats and then installed!

All running smoothly at the moment. Still sending multiple messages but using the stock messaging app fixes that...

Wow, how often do you use your phone for playing games, texting, calling and etc...?

A habit of mine that I do is I always hold down the home button until it shows the tasks that I have, and I close them all down so they're not running in the background. It works pretty good for me :D

I'm afraid that closing down tasks wastes more battery than it saves. ;)

Hmm, I never knew that haha :P

Do the apps go into some sort of sleep mode or something?

You could say that. They are cached and waiting to pounce. Closing them down uses juice and some of them will re-open again anyway... which uses even more juice as does starting them up again.

This is why you should never use a task killer on the latest Android builds as it does more harm than good. Also, using a task killer can mask a problem that you might be having with an app or OS.

Bottom line... let Android take care of itself. ;)

Ironass chimes in with awesome advice as usual! :D

Kie, are you using the Twlauncher or are you using another of the bundled launchers?

I use trebuchet; I don't think AndyX ROM has touchwiz.

On 7.1 which is the shizzle except for the bloody double sms problem. Updated to 7.2 (just dalvik wipe) and still getting double sms problem. its so close to being perfect but for this problem. Anyone have a cure for my ills?

BTW: Using the ICS messaging zip.

Update: OK, works fine with stock messaging. Hate having to use it though

I found a link for a modded version of Handcent where they somehow made it so the stock messaging app wouldn't send a message if you used Handcent... I lost the link so I can provide you with it. Sorry! =\

Just a newbie to custom roms and phandroid but have been following this thread since i flashed v7.1 about 2 weeks ago... and its brilliant! To my delight v7.2 didn't take long to release so big ups to the devs for giving such a great rom!
However i do have a noob question too, can i use this on my galaxy tab 10.1?

hi. quite new here. i was just wondering if it is normal to have 300-200 ram left. it seems like after i installed this ROM, my available memory dips below 400. will this affect the battery life? and if yes, how can i alleviate this? thanks :D

So, what's the general feeling for AndyX? Like it? Don't? Best of a bad bunch? Steer clear? Wassup homies?

well, AndyX was pretty good until somewhere near v6.9/7.0. Looks like the developer is lost and all new versions are buggy but still a very good ROM to play with.

Now is time to try some other ROMs like WanamLite(the best ATM, at least for me), CM9, Batista70 and wait until CheckROM and/or VillainROM comes out with its ICS version.

CM9 will get some good improvements in the next few weeks since a lot of good developers are willing to help codeworkx on some major issues.
