Yes you are correct, looks like I will get to play with hboot tonight :D I would think we are getting very close to the GB OTA, I guess that is good for those who like sense roms.
 
Doesn't surprise me. I bet it has more to do with network stability, it seems like every radio I flash 3G gets stronger and more consistant, sometimes handoffs between 3g and 4g seem better with new radios
 
downloading now. looks like the vm bug is still present,lol. i feel sorry for folks waiting for this to OTA. its startin to feel like its never gonna be right :eek:

I'm sure they will get it fixed eventually. HTC and VZW likely have devs trolling XDA and rootz looking for issues and fixes. They may hold off on some of the fixes until it is time for the OTA to deter people from rooting (or I could just be paranoid :D)

Yeah unfortunately I'm not all that impressed with the 817 leak. I flashed back the 726 CDMA radio for now. Signal jumped as soon as my phone booted back up after flashing. Stability seemed about the same.

Ill wait for the next leak later this week.. ;)

I never seem to notice much of a difference in any of the radios...I just take people's word for it. The leak before this one seemed to pop to 4G faster than older radios when loading a new rom, which is about the only time I notice this sort of thing. I use Y5 to turn my wifi on and off as I leave the house, and I am usually not browsing the web as I drive home from gym, lol. It is usually back on wifi by the time I set it down on the bar at home, and it is on 4G when I set it on the elliptical to listen to music while I warm up. Really, that is about all the radio switching performance I need here in the Dallas area--the 4G coverage is really pretty dang good here.

That is about what I have seen everywhere. I never bothered to flash the 817 just based on what I was reading 726 works great for me
 
I also compared some speedtest's and 817 was between 1.4-1.6 down, .9-1.0 up. Back on 726 2.0-2.2 down, .9-1.0 up.

I had similar results as you. While your speeds are collectively faster than mine, 726 has faster speeds for me.

817- .4 dwn/.25up
726- 1.4 dwn/.67 up

i havent noticed,but the only time i see handoffs is if i toggle. im in a pretty strong 4g all the time now,so unless i drive a ways north,i dont often see automatic handoffs

I was mainly referring to 3G/4G to WiFi.

Since my post it seems to have gotten a little better. That being said I'm probably going to flash back to 726 later

Anyone know if this is available in a ROM so we can just flash? My understanding is that running that .exe will cause you to lose root, correct?

there are several rooted 2.11.605.0,clockwork flashable roms now on xda.

the patch you mentioned only works if youre currently running 2.10.605.1,if youre not,im not sure what will happen :eek:

yes,running the .exe will casue you to lose root and s-off if you still have the old eng 1.04.2000 s-off bootloader. if you have recently rotoed with revolutionary,or flashed shadowmites perm patch hboot, they will block the hboot flash during the .exe flash. you can then hboot your recovery back in place,and flash superuser in that recovery to become rooted again.
 
I'm having a hell of a time getting 4G signal for some reason on this 4th leak. I know it didn't include an LTE radio, but since flashing it I'm not picking up 4G in plces I've had it for months. It could be placebo and nothing is wrong, or something could be wrong. I'm flashing the combined 3rd leak I threw together because I know I had good 4G signal with it. I'll post back if anyone is interested
 
I would guess it is an issue with the handoff. I don't recall any reports saying the network was down. I'm sure you checked to make sure you were on CDMA/EVDO LTE auto. Try switching to LTE only to see if you still have 3G, the LTE radio can pick up eHRPD 3g. If you get LTE on LTE only then I would say the 4th leak radio is causing the issue.
