Root Another return to stock thread

Ya know what...I don't think so.

If you cannot get the usb to connect properly even after installing the updated sync drivers you can extract the rom.zip from the pc temp folders put this on your sd card and flash through the bootloader.

This was what I ended up doing when I downgraded via tacoroot.

Okay...sounds good! I will keep this in mind.

Okay, it's complete. The phone rebooted and it looks like everything is normal and weird to see the phone look like it did when I first got it. How do I know if I am un-rooted completely now?

Go back into your bootloader and see what it says. You may have to disable fastboot in menu/settings/applications/development? I think...uncheck it.
Yay, I posted something :D

Okay, before I did that I went in and updated everything to the most current updates as far as profile, prl & the HTC system update for Android 2.3.5 (4.67.651.3). I figured it might look suspicious if the phone had such old software on it.

Anyway here is what it says in bootloader:

*** LOCKED (OOW) *** (Highlighted in magenta)
SUPERSONIC EVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-2.18.0001
MICORP-041f

NICE!!!!!!!!

if you can't read it:
NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and by the way i would just kept it like it was. just in case they send it back rooting it would have been much easier. but no stress, you can still root it but it will be much harder to do.

That was going to be my next question, here is to hoping they send me something different...I wouldn't mind trying a different phone. If they do send me this phone back...how hard would it be for me to re-root this phone now in it's current state?

you will need to use this guide now:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...-rooting-gingerbread-2-3-5-dummies-guide.html

also i would back up your sd card and then get rid of your nandroids as well.

Okay, will do! They actually have me sending the phone in without the SD card and battery. That kind of makes me think I am getting this phone back...although maybe they just don't care about the cost of the battery or they are just going to give me a new one since my warranty covers it.

well keep us posted on how things go for you. and we will be here if you need to root the phone again.

Okie dokie...I really want to thank you guys for all your help, I couldn't have done it without you! I will keep you posted. That guide looks pretty easy to re-root...but if I have any questions I will be sure to ask. Thanks again!

So the current update is that my phone is unrepairable since the parts are no longer available. They are sending me a check for $585.75...now I have the option to choose a new phone.

Here is where you all come in...what should I get with $585.75? Should I go with the Samsung Galaxy S III or the EVO 4G LTE...or is there another phone that would be better than either of these?

Holy crap man! $585.75?????? NICE!!!

I am torn also between the 2 phones. You will get many opinions here and ultimately the choice is yours, obviously, but depending on what carrier my boss decides to switch to, if it is Sprint, I will be going to the LTE.
If it is Verizon, it will be the SGIII.
I haven't really researched others.
He (my boss), is kinda draggin his feet on that one tho:)
That's just my opinion!

Yup...they originally wanted to send me $320.00 and I told them that I could not find a phone that compared to my EVO for that cheap. I really am torn between the two also...I mean I really enjoy Sense so I think I would miss that using the SGSIII. But on the other hand the SGSIII does have some nice features plus I like that it comes with Jellybean. Does anyone think the LTE will eventually get Jellybean as well?

I remember reading something about JB on the Evo LTE but ya know who would know about that is either Ocnbrze or Rxpert as they both have the LTE.:)
Either of them might float over here and see this updated thread :)

Yeah...I was checking out the LTE boards and there doesn't seem to be a definite answer over there. The other thing I was wondering about is the extra 1GB of RAM on the SGSIII...you think that would really make a difference over the LTE's RAM?

You know who else has an LTE?

This guy! ;)

And there is a rumor of an official Jelly Bean update for the LTE, but even if those prove to be false, there are several AOSP JB ROMs available for the device. To be honest, I think it'll come eventually :).

You also got the droid dna, and the note 2 if you're looking for oversized monsters both with JB, albeit 4.1.2(1), but both will be getting 4.2 I'd reckon. What about the Nexus 4? Or even the Optimus G, only ICS though!

Oh the choices. I think I am partial to the EVO, but I feel like maybe I should try the SGSIII since it is all I am hearing about these days...of course that is most likely do to creative advertising.

Its seems that everyone is going for the S3.
Over here in Japan I'm considering either the Note2 or the Optimus G.
Was gonna go for the J Butterfly, but I may have to switch carriers as the wife is, and free calls for family wins over.

Had a play of the Note2 and the S-pen with its gestures and what not are a neat addition. However I noticed some sort of ghosting when watching videos. I like the Optimus G's features as well, and agree it is super fast plus the quad core, eco management.

Do the US variants have one-seg television or is that just the asian variants?

Straying way off topic here:o
