Any Gun owners out there?

Cross your fingers folks. On CA's ballot was an initiative pushed by the LT governor (a consummate politician) to require, among other things, background checks...on ammunition purchases.
That's Str8 up ret.ard.ed, and I'll don't even live there

^^^^^^^^^
As the resident "limp wristed liberal" in the room, I suspect the issue is a bit more subtle than it appears on the surface........But it still only took me about .02 seconds to vote "NO" on that one, for several reasons; And I currently only own black powder firearms, so it wouldn't even be my problem. Still, NO, enough is enough.

(Threadjack, belongs in P/CA, but sue me....)
Several others Ca. initiatives I was "told to vote for" by my "voter guide" also got an immediate "NO", most notably: I have never smoked a cigarette in my life, but the measure adding yet another $2.00 per pack of taxes was a no brainer. On a percentage basis, targeted at a particular, narrowly defined segment of the population, engaging in a legal activity that brings them some comfort or happiness?........NO, enough is more than enough; Quit legislating things like this, guys; It's the very kind of proposition that gives those on the other side (occasional) good reason to complain about my side.

Honestly, in the context of this thread, "limp wristed" refers to my (now significantly degraded) abilities at the range. (Shame on anyone who read anything more into the expression.);)
(Not that they were ever awe inspiring abilities to begin with.) Several TBI's and the resulting loss of motor control have made it kind of pointless for me to shoot much any more; Left me kind of a joke when Daniel and Bob show me something I like in the display case. Think Gene Wilder in "Blazing Saddles", no fooling.

Much more to blah, blah, blah about, secondary explanations and definitions to "limp wristed", even less relevant than alluded to above; Nothing to hide here, and nothing anyone should concern themselves with, but neither anything that should clutter up this thread any further; If it really matters, I'm not hard to find.

Back on topic: At this point, the gun I covet the most (today:rolleyes:) is a nice clean Ruger standard, with a 5 to 6 inch barrel; Blued only, tapered only. Heck, even a scruffy one has significant appeal, if not worn out. Very small dreams, I know. But also.......... I'd really love to be able to hit something with it reliably again. But one step at a time, right?

Who in the room wants to stand up and tell me a Ruger standard isn't a really pretty little gun; Be it ever so humble?:p

And P.S.......What is the definition of a "good liberal"?;)
Wouldn't a "good anti-liberal" join me in not giving a flying rat's banana for what is or isn't "PC"?
Terribly sorry if I have offended anyone.;):p

Know very little of Sigs, other than well respected name. Research to be done. A buddy has a few, but he lives in another (crazy) state now, haven't had the chance to enjoy them. Not like he can bring them back to town in his carry on luggage when he visits, so we can enjoy together.
Am genuinely sad the "moronic initiative" is passing by large margin.

Am genuinely proud to live in one of the few sane states there is, despite some notable foolishness.

As ever, terribly sad if I have offended anyone. :p;)

Got to experience what bullets sound like on the receiving end this morning.

Some reckless asshat out at our shooting spot in the desert kept overshooting the berm and sending bullets over our heads.

He stopped after I sent some birdshot in his direction.

This election has a LOT to do with guns and rights to own guns... quite unlike CHINA that your not allowed guns... ;)

I'm afraid that my dream rifle has fallen out of production. I have been laying low for a Ruger Precision Rifle chambered in .243 Winchester. I just saw a Ruger ad in the American Rifleman listing the rifle in .308 and in 6.5 Creedmoor only. I went online and found the same two calibers only listed at the Ruger site. I may have waited too long for what I really wanted. I would have thought the .243 would have been in production longer than two years....

I'm certain I can still find a new one around to purchase but next summer was my target savings / purchase plan.

I can buy localy for less but I appreciate the tease. Can you just imagine how much guff I might get from Mrs. Ob if I came home with one right here at Christmas time? Well, I can. No thanks.:confused::D

What I've Fired:

.22 caliber rifle, Smith & Wessin .38 Combat Masterpiece, M16-A1, M16-X1 (I think this was the precursor of the M4). M60, M79. From Boy Scout to USAF Patrol Dog Handler; Since then nothing. The gun clubs are way outside of Boston MA. The two gun stores actually in the city have been closed for years.

What I'd like to Fire:

Colt.45 1911 Pistol. Single Barrel, Double Barrel, Pump or Semi-Auto Shotguns. Hunting Rifles.
