Any Gun owners out there?

You needed a special card in MA in the '80s to own a shotgun? In PA all you needed then was a valid driver's license. Had a shotgun and a couple of .22 rifles that were purchased from the sporting goods dept. of a department store.
In Mass prior to the mid nineties you needed a Firearms Identification Card (FID) that allowed you to purchase and own anything legal except pistols (separate permit). These permits were "VALID UNTIL THEY WERE SUSPENDED OR REVOKED." I still have mine and that was stamped in all caps in red. Whelp, a law of some kind was passed, which may have been the Brady Bill. Anyway, Mass revoked everyone's permit and made them reapply once you took and passed whatever gun safety courses they deemed you needed and got permission from your local police chief.

That sucks.
My Great-grandmas single barrel shotgun that i lost the firing pin too is illegal for me to keep in my closet. I'm going to break it down and put the stock on my kitchen closet.
Those firearm safety courses cost money.
Is there an exemption for military veterans with a relevant MOS?

You can likely google up your current state's requirements for gun ownership. The laws are likely in a pdf that you can read at your leisure. I well imagine it will take some time to carve your way though your state's requirements. :(
Being as you want to be legal, and well you should be, you might try contacting your local PD. I'm certain they will be more than happy to point you in the right direction for your rights and state requirements info.
Unfortunately for you, you reside in a state with very strict gun ownership laws. Good or bad will not be debated here but I'm betting there will be a cost in revenue and time to satisfy your desire to own a gun. Good luck.

It's hard out here for a Bostonian.
We just got a new Police Commissioner.
He might be more sympathetic.
Luckily BPD headquaters, City Hall and Government Center are a single short bus ride away for me. I just gotta get off my lazy a**.

I need to shot something soon. If i believe the sniper in "Spy Game" you can pull the trigger way, way back before the shot.
No Gun I've ever shot works that way???

Have things changed that much since the 1970's?

I'm no expert on trigger pulls especially across the many manufacturers of today. I mostly shoot simi auto pistols. Though they are designed with a certain amount of travel before they break they are far from "way way back" travel. Some travel is a good thing. A touchy trigger is dangerous.
I own only one bolt action long gun. It's trigger has more travel than a pistol but it's not a forever pull before it breaks.

Calico .22 top loading magazine.
A wonder of technology but did it work?
Right now I'm thinking of the pistol that looked alot like a carbine.
Think the guns from "The Running Man".

Is the M249 SAW lighter than an M60 from the 1970s?
No chance of owning the new one where I live but when I trained with the old one I could get off the first rounds.
That was 40 years ago though.
