Any Incredible owners jealous of the Evo 4G?

Theyre very similar in dimensions. The evo isnt that much bigger

HTC EVO 4G
2.6″ x 4.8″ x 0.5″

Droid Incredible
2.3″ x 4.63″ x 0.47″

These are significant differences. The EVO is 12% wider than the Inc. That makes a big difference in the hand and in the pocket. Again, the bigger screen could be worth it for some.

Good topic, I enjoy reading criticisms and some of them are pretty legitimate. A lot though, like carrier concerns, I feel are not. But in the end its a matter of personal preference for the majority of people.

As somebody said earlier, it's more like 1a and 1b.

Phones will always beat other phones, and other phones will beat older phones and so on and so on. I hope cell phones don't get any bigger, i don't want to carry a iPad size phone. Next year the INCREDIBLE and evo 4g will sell for 49.99, maybe, buy one get one free... hey thats technology.

I personally think a cell phone has a desire shelf life of MAYBE... 8-12 months. Anyone desire The DARE....

The device is 18% bigger (Inc was already on the verge), and impacts one hand operation. If you have not tried the HD2, you will not appeciate the issue. Again, if you have big hands- no problem :)

Oh you bet they are!

What is the point of 4G if it is tiny areas of the coverage map, that is already tiny to begin with?

By the time Sprint has 4G in all areas that Sprint has 3G (which is small), VZW will have their network upgraded for the entire coverage map.

Am I the only person that gets the irony here? EVO and 4G are only a selling point for the metro areas that actually have 4G. Most other areas will be Edge level speeds.

no you are absolutely correct; if you live in a major metro area, have 4G, and dont travel outside of your area alot, 4G is very cool; if not, it wont do a thing for you..
Some people dont care about 4G; they just want this phone for its size/hd video out, cheaper service...
remember, we all make our choices based on what we feel is best for us, or what we lust for...Verizon isnt the answer for everyone, just like ATT isnt..
I'm leaning towards trying this phone, because the phone call quality is horrible on my Incredible, plus sprints pricing is less expensive that Verizons. I live in chicagoland where 4G is all over, and, I rarely travel outside of my home area. If I do, I will just turn 4g off..very simple, and will work for me. I just hope the phone call quality is not like this on all the new HTC phones...unlike many people here, I actually use the phone first and foremost for phone calls....

A lot of people are making this a carrier discussion about VZW VS Sprint. It's not, it should be about the phone. If this phone was on VZW some incredible owners would be drooling and figuring out a way to snatch it up. Let's just say vzw offered both, what would u pick, hmm? Some people are gonna say incredible regardless, but seriously ur feelings would change if u could get the EVO. My voice quality has been garbage as of late with the incredible, sometimes its decent, and sometimes its down right terrible. I'm so interested to see how the EVO FARES in these, and certain departments. If its the same, then HTC is in hot water. But if the EVO turns out to not have some of these issues, well then dam, the Championship belt will go to the EVO Being better, and yes, making some VZW incredible owners very jealous. Gotta love technology, always something bigger, badder, and more powerful on the Horizon.

Amazing that all you people are trashing sprint for their coverage especially when sprint offers FREE roaming and roams through verizon so it means for calls the coverage between verizon and sprint is identical so quit hating. Verizon is great but in my opion the EVO is just an amazing phone and while I know the bigger size is not for everyone I find that on my increadible the screen is just to small and can't wait to get the evo with all the extra features, and if you are going to bash please don't trash the phone cause almost every spec of the phone beats the increadible.

From my brief time with sprint, you can roam on verizon network for free however its still limited..

you cant roam on their network more than half of whatever your allotment is for your minutes or they can terminate your contract without notice.

Sprint has it on their website as well as i called a rep
so that's not really a big feature because i have to watch how long i was roaming

I knew there had to be some sort of catch. Good to know.

Free is never free anymore

The Verizon roaming is voice only, not data. Having used to travel a lot though, I didn't find Sprint EVDO coverage to be that bad unless you live far from a major city then you get about TMobile equivalent coverage which is not ver good.

The carrier the phone is on can be as big an issue as the phone itself. Besides, Sprint customers are particularly defensive about thier service to go along with thier inferiority complex. Coupled that with the standard hatred of Verizon that almost all non verizon customers have and you will find these arguments breaking out in every thread.

The EVO is one month newer. The tech improvement is marginal.

lol nicely put :p

I must say as a T-Mobile customer I resented the Verizon folks with my awful service. Now that I have joined the Dark Side and I can feel the hatred. It makes us stronger. ;)

hey Berner, did you pre order at RS or BB?

Did you have Sprint in Chicago land before or is this your first time?

I agree about some Sprint Customers being very defensive. And usually I don't even pay any mind. However, I have heard it's gotten alot better, like really better. Do they match us on Vzw when it's all broken down? Most likely NO! However, I'm going to give the EVO a whirl anyway. And if the voice quality is good, data speed is fast, and I don't get dropped calls, well then I'm in. If not, and these things don't measure up, right back to the store, refund, and cancel the Sprint contract. And at that point, stock should be back with the incredible, and that will be that. The incredible I have is just not good, based on bad voice quality, screen freezes, and some random reboots. But as I've said, and even some other incredible owners with some problems, it's still a very sweet device. I just happen to very much like the HD2, and the EVO gives me a very similar device with this awesome Android OS. Should be interesting!

My EXACT same feelings, Sean..
and, I am having the same issues, with call quality, screen freezes, and random reboots..I love the incredible, but, I'll try the Evo and see if its any better.
If not, I'll go back to the incredible

If you liked the HD2 you should LOVE the Evo. Hey, Sprint is making it easy to give them a whirl, so, why not give a shot. Strange about the voice quality issue's you are having. I have to say the Inc has been fantastic in terms of voice quality for me.

I dont know if Sprint has gotte better or not. Where I live, about 50 miles NW of NYC, their coverage map is still relagated to main roads and highways. Once you get a few miles away you go into bad coverage or roaming.

RS. I've not tried Sprint before, but all the online signal databases show my location as having outstanding Sprint signal, both voice and data. Better than Verizon, in fact. I get -90db from Verizon, which was perfectly fine on my Storm but is problematic on the Incredible. And of course, being in Chicago, I'm absolutely swimming in 4G.

Then again, if the EVO doesn't work out, I'll go back to the Incredible. Since I don't live in Boonieville, I have a choice. Maybe that's why some of you get so defensive: you don't really have a choice?

If you're happy with Verizon and happy with your Incredible, great. If you're happy with Sprint and want the bigger brother to the Incredible on your carrier, great. This thread should really end there.

which online signal databases, besides the one from Sprint have you checked?

thanks

I am jealous of the bigger screen and the kickstand. I don't think people fully grasp how slick that combo is for media consumption anywhere/anytime. I've started to watch a lot of video podcasts on my DI, but having to hold it or prop it up is a bit of a pain, and the 3.7" screen isn't exactly monster size. I'm more jealous of that than any marginal speed increase between VZW 3G and Sprint 4G (which doesn't exist in my area yet).
