Any new phone rumors for Sprint?

That's kinda confusing because of the press release announcing the Optimus G heading to Sprint and ATT. So, does that mean that Sprint would offer both the Nexus version and the LG version?
These are the pros for both phones, based on the specs that have been released:
Note 2
- Bigger Screen (5.5 inch)
- Bigger Battery (3100mah), as well as removable
- Integrated S-Pen w/ Hovering capabilities
- Multi-tasking option (supposedly to be updated on all Note 2 devices at some point)
LG Optimus G
- 32gb internal storage (vs. the 16gb being released currently in the UK and announced formally for the Note 2 in the US)
- Q-Slide
- Smaller form factor for holding
- True IPS HD display (This display looked amazing in videos, even compared to Samsung's revised Note 2 Super Amoled HD display)
- Likely cheaper price than the Note 2 (assuming it's priced the same as the SGS 3 and LTEvo were at launch)
- 13mp camera
Basically, if Sprint offers the 32 or 64gb version of the Note 2...there's no contest for me. But, that hasn't officially happened yet, so I'm still open to the LG. Another X-factor in favor of the Note 2 is that it'll clearly be a more active forum than the Optimus G forum (which is a ghost town right now).

Debating picking up an SGS3 off-contract until Sprint gets a Nexus. It breaks my heart to leave my 3VO, but I'm in between a rock and a hard place when I want some extra solid AOSP JB love and can't get no!

If that's the case, it is unlikely that Sprint would acquire an Optimus Nexus since they are due to receive the Optimus G in November.
Personally, I'm not very fond of this "Certified Nexus" device idea.
I'll reserve judgement until i see them. I think its a good idea, but I've been so wrong in the past. lol
Although I did read that they can now have OS skins on them. If so doesn't that defeat the purpose of a pure android OS like the Nexus series.

That was my takeaway. Phones that have this "theme manager" will allow you to disable whatever skin a manufacturer puts on it. I wonder about this, though... some of the skins are more than skin-deep, and reflect actual changes to how Android operates. Can you really turn them on and off so easily? Or will the future skins be more of an "alternate launcher" thing?
Either way, as long as we get stock Android capable of receiving updates from Google (and not having to muddle through some hellish OEM process) I'll be happy if this is the direction the Nexus program takes.

Man, they couldn't confirm removable or non-removable battery? The bottom leak from Android and Me matches up with the ATT (8mp camera) and the Sprint (13mp camera) versions, so they obviously haven't been researching enough to deduct that connection. Obviously, they're stating that the body has changed from the Optimus G, so I'm reverting back to my original thought that the Optimus G will be released as a Nexus phone (there won't be both).
This would be a game changer for me. Should the Nexus Optimus G have 32gb of storage, a microSD slot, and a removable battery...yeah, it might have jumped to an even spot at the top of my list and would make me hold off on pre-ordering the Note 2.
Only thing that would push the Note 2 back to the top is if Samsung pushed the 32 and 64gb versions out to all the US carriers (and offered those through 3rd party sellers, not just exclusively through the carrier, like Sprint did with the SGS 3).
Next couple months are going to be absolutely wild and if the Note 2 gets released prior to the Nexus Optimus, I actually may hold off on a pre-order until November comes around.

No sd-card is only deal breaker for me. I've never changed a battery in any of the phones I've ever owned, so that doesn't really matter. 32 gigs internal would be nice though.

The press release announcing the Optimus G for ATT and Sprint had details saying that it had a microSD slot. Only questions right now are if it's a Nexus phone and if it has a removable battery.

And, on that model, they don't mention anything about a microSD slot, just saying that the model they had showed 16gb of storage (also not specifying if that's from a microSD or if it's the itnernal storage). Maybe they just weren't paying attention enough? The US version of the Optimus G is supposed to come with a 16gb microSD on top of the 32gb internal storage, but maybe that info was incorrect? We'll see as time moves on.

For all you Galaxy Note 2 fans, CNET UK posted a long and glowing review of the international version yesterday. Aside from the camera (which they were disappointed with, given its pedigree) they loved it.
As for the Optimus G, I'm going out on a limb and saying that AT&T and Sprint will be getting the standard LG-branded device, while Verizon will get a temporary "exclusive" with the Nexus version before an international version is released (assuming the LG Nexus is real).

More LG Nexus rumors. These state that the phone has a non-removable battery, no SD card slot, and only 16gb of storage (max).

Bummer. No SD card support + non-removable battery = fail.
I do not want Android device that is like the iPhone in the worst ways. The S3 has proven you can have a super slim phone with a removable battery.
I don't understand why OEMs continue to get it wrong in the Android space, despite S3 showing the world that removable batteries and SD card support are what the consumers want.

Yeah, I don't get that either. These two things are not deal breakers for me, but they're certainly negatives. What gets me the most about these rumors is the 16gb max storage combined with no SD card. Some of us are not keen on streaming data from the cloud, thanks.

Yeah, I just read this just now. Wow, just wow. Those are major deal breakers right there. I just hope now that the rumors of multiple Nexus devices are true.

No microSD, only up to 16gb internal storage are definitely "deal breakers" for me. Add on top of that a non-removable battery...not a deal breaker for me, but that's a moot point without the storage space (figuring, Google is trying to push people into cloud drives, which will not be an "easy" push until every US provider has flawless data connection everywhere).
Well, if Sprint offers the "Nexus" version of the Optimus G, no question the Note 2 will be my next phone. If it's the US version of the Optimus G (non-Nexus), then it's still a contender, but I'd have to see it in person to make a more calculated decision.

So glad I have my Best Buy gift cards ready to go and use on the Note 2. I just hope that the bigger memory versions will be available everywhere.
