Any Time is Grillin Time

I have an oven... it might work... beats me :) Na, I cook everything out that I can. I love cooking out and if there is any way I can get er done on the grill... it's getting used. I'm certain the neighbors hate me.

Ugh, I get angry every time I come home or the windows are open in the summer and smell the sweet sweet deliciousness of charcoal burning.
Just saw a listing for a cute little 1Br apartment on Capitol Hill that has a patio. So want it.

Man I hope that works out for you bread. Time on the patio is quality.

Speaking of angry neighbors... As you know I mow commercially. The other day I was mowing a long time client who was grilling at the time I was mowing. I stopped the mower and went up to talk to the guy. I told him... I've mowed your lawn for years but you have just broken one of the few rules I have between mower and client. Rule #1 is client will not inflict additional misery and suffrage to mower by grilling while yard is being groomed. :) He just laughed but... the aroma coming from a grill is just a killer. It makes me hungry even if I've just finished eating.

Speaking of grilling... I grilled out some ribeye steaks tonight. They were delicious. They marinaded all afternoon in some beer, Allegro marinade, Stubbs beef seasoning, and Montreal steak seasoning. I put a good sear on each side and backed off the heat and grilled until medium rare. Juicy and tender... melt in the mouth. I baked some sweet potatoes which we ate with just salt and pepper and some butter. Later we are having some fresh strawberries and short cakes.

Perfect! Bet that was tasty.
I haven't grilled in over a week. The last thing was (gasp!) Johnsonville Brats. My wife said that was all they had left at the market. If they did nothing else, they reaffirmed why I do not like them. Mostly fat. Singed the hair off my arm with a flare up!

I boil them in beer until the skin bursts, then give them a sear on the grill at about 450 to compensate for the fat content.

Did a full pit for my sons birthday 2 weeks ago. Brisket, sausage, ribs, beans and a pork butt. Smoked it off at home then took it down to the beach (we share a cabana with 3 families, not the kind of place with cabana boys and such, just s place to leave your beach crap and hang out). What a meat fest!. I also grilled some glazed plantains (amazing!!!) and pineapple. Last week, I rebelled against the meat and made ceviche. I also made our #1 beach favorite elote (mexican corn). Grill cobs on high direct heat till the kernels get a bit brown and caramelized. At the table, a light coat of crema, roll in cojita cheese and optionally sprinkle with hot pepper (cayenne or similar)and a squeeze of lime. If you've never tried this, you should! You can sub mayo for the crema and parmesan for the cojita if no convenient latin market nearby. Everyone at the cabana ate at least 2 ears, it's messy to eat and incredibly good.

I will have to try your corn. It sounds oh so very good. I've smoked corn and that's not bad. I've peeled the husk back and rubbed with butter and rerapped and grilled. Your corn sounds better than any of that. ...especially seasoned with cayenne pepper!

We have a nice little Mexican place down the street from us that has the most amazing elote. I. get. it. everytime. :)

I'm smoking some chicken quarters. They were rubbed down with some hot, not sweet, rub and have been smoking at 225f for an hour and a half. I'm guessing a couple of more hours. Target temp 170f.

Maybe next time we can have a higher rez pic of those thighs so I can see every pixel appear one by one instead of one line at a time? :D

As for beer? There are exceptions!

Do you get Mr. Foods on your afternoon news? Yesterday's recipe was for Beer Can Chicken, Beer Can Chicken | mrfood.com

Nope... don't get the guy. You can't go wrong with beer butt chicken though.

The forum sucked it into a digestible state for me. Sowwy :)

When that beer was first released they had a big promotion and it was half price at the ol ballpark. It seemed like a bargain after a couple I swore off of them for life.
