Anyone Else Concerned About Engadgets Comment?

"You can tell that the processor is fast, but the UI still has a jerky quality to it -- it's not totally fluid. We'd say that's more of an Android thing, though."

"Don’t get me wrong: the Droid X is a delight to use. But at times, the hypothetical finish feels a little rougher than it should, and it’s lacking a certain refinement — in how it switches between screens, in how it responds to the touch — that one sees in an iPhone or even iPod."

I have hopes that the phone is nice and fluid. I remember the droid when it first came out was lagggggggggyyy, especially on the home screens. Lets hope the X is not.

I wouldn't be too worried about it, I have saw several reviews stating it is the faster phone they have used. So I think even if it does lag some, it will still be a great and fast phone.

Also if there are issues, I would think that could be solved with a OTA update.

I believe it is the live wallpaper that was running standard on all the review units that were given out/shown. they ported that live wallpaper over to the droid and there it just scrolls weird. so I doubt it will be an issue.

Good point, I guess it is going to be one of those things we are going to have to test out ourselves.

I agree im sure if there is an issue there will be an ota i remember with the droid they had a few of these ota's and from most of the reviews and benchmark tests it shows even with the lag it is still super fast

Yeah lets hope there is no delay although it seems that since the froyo code has been released hopefully if there is a delay the developers will have a version out there that you could download if you didnt want to wait for the official ota from verizon

One other thing, you guys were right when you said OTA updates will come. It has already been said that another update will come before the actual release date, for all of the X's already out there.

Not sure where I read that, but I know WolfeDude knows what I'm talking about.

I'm planning on rooting the Droid X to unlock its full power, so it doesn't matter to me. :)

Yeah that is what I plan on doing as well, I just hope it doesn't take to long for root and roms and everything else to be done. Hopefully the Devs won't have too hard or a time.

Yep, I cannot remember where it was said, but it was said that there would be a OTA for the older devices. I will update if I find the article/review, might not be tonight I am getting kind of tired.

I have a feeling that there will be much more support for this device than the Incredible. The EVO took so much attention from the Incredible. Now with the Droid X, which is known to be much more powerful than the EVO, I believe it's going to be the "It" phone for the Devs.

Yeah im sure Motorola isn't going to let everyone hang out to dry unlike HTC they will try and get things fixed as soon as they can if any issues arise. Im sure they are working right now trying to get it down to as problem free as they can before release.

What do you plan to do to "unlock full power of the phone" by rooting..

Also how will the display on this phone compare to other phones with top displays, Droid inc, iphone 4, galaxy, etc.

I installed the Droid X live wallpaper on my phone and it made my phone a lot slower and caused force closes. This is with my Droid running @ 900mhz on 2.1.

So I'm not surprised if the live wallpaper is causing slow downs on the X.

I think so too. Motorola usually stands behind their devices and this will be Verizon's new flagship phone so hopefully they have a lot more support then with the incredible which practically was a joke.

I installed the droid x live wallpaper on my incredible and it doesn't seem to be slowing it down much if any. But i do agree some live wall papers do slow phones down significantly.

yah same issue. take a look at the video i posted to see the difference.

I realize that software issues are easier to correct then hardware issues but it's just weird how motorola just cant fully polish their devices like HTC and apple do. HTC and apple don't release devices with laggy user interfaces.

Actually that is incorrect based on my experience with the Incredible. Sometimes my Inc will freeze up for about 5-10 seconds (varies) and then do all of these commands at once. With certain live wallpaper especially, the UI slows down. It's very evident when you scroll up and down the People and Bookmarks widgets. With a plain background, it's a lot smoother. I can't live without live wallpapers though. :P They're just too cool! My favorite one to show off is the Aquarium one.
