Anyone Else Concerned About Engadgets Comment?

Also, the first thing I'm doing when I get this phone is installing LauncherPro. There goes any home page scrolling issues...

so fab is getting the X? so that means fab will be making roms and such for the X? if so time to get the X.

LauncherPro Beta for me as well. I love that launcher.

3d app drawer is nice too. I liek hows it taking features from all other launchers lol.

Oh and the 5 rows on the homescreens is nice. I only use 3 screens so I love this feature.

I realize that software issues are easier to correct then hardware issues but it's just weird how motorola just cant fully polish their devices like HTC and apple do. HTC and apple don't release devices with laggy user interfaces.

1. They haven't released the Dx yet. Reviewers are being told they don't have final software on the devices.

2. There are times when my Dinc lags also. Try loading more than one app at a time and watch it come to a halt.

I'm planning on rooting the Droid X to unlock its full power, so it doesn't matter to me. :)

Yeah that is what I plan on doing as well, I just hope it doesn't take to long for root and roms and everything else to be done. Hopefully the Devs won't have too hard or a time.

Hopefully rooting will be done sooner rather than later. But don't count on being able to load custom ROMS. Since the Droid, Motorola has been locking the bootloader down. The Milestone still doesn't have its bootloader cracked and it was released in November 2009. So 7 months later and it still hasn't been cracked.

I'm not saying that it will be impossible to crack, but it might take a lot more time than you think. Also, the longer it takes, the more likely another phone is released that blows the Droid X away, and people's energy is directed at the new device instead of the Droid X.

Just something to think about. If custom ROMs are really important to you, I'd advise waiting until the Droid X is truely cracked completely before buying one.

Youre right, Apple only releases phones with faulty hardware :p

I am very happy with the Droid X reviews. I've read/watched probably 12 of them and most everything has been VERY positive. Battery life, screen, buttons, build quality, 2d/3d benchmarks - even most people have agreed that they like the hump! The only thing it doesn't have is a front facing camera but I know that's something I would never use.

I'd also like to add that you could tell in the podcast that Josh had never really used the Droid X yet. Nilay didn't seem to love it that much, although he liked the keyboard, but Paul Miller did seem to like the X a lot, and he's the only one of the three that used the Droid as his primary phone. I'm not going to go so far as to call Josh an Apple fanboy, like all of his ustream participants, but he does love the iPhone. It's no wonder he's not fully in love with the Droid X.

This makes me sad. The most fun I have had with my Droid has been playing with custom roms and modding the phone. I wonder how long till we find out if the boot loader is locked down.

The video here is not where the X gets laggy. It is when opening apps, waiting on the browser and the screen rotation. Every video so far clearly shows this apparently (for the chipset) odd lag.
