This is what my screen looks like about 6 times a day.
I get the same screen, no bars, and my Dinc alway had great reception in the same areas.

I exchanged GNexus once already, same issue...at times no signal at all... get no data connection error on browsing, market, speed test apps.
what is strange is I get 4G/4 bars in parts of NJ, closer to NYC, in parts of NYC and speed is sometimes 20 up, 10-12 mb down, elsewhere it won't even go above 1mb downloadsometimes even in a 4g full signal area, it drops all bars for few minutes and then comes back...I am not sure it is the hardware...

your 3g Dinc is a different animal. you're comparing apples to oranges.

)I'm simply comparing reception in the same areas with two different phone. If the Dinc is two years old than the Gnex should have at least the same reception quality in the same areas; and I'm in Atlanta so I'm not in some rural country area.
Don't get me wrong I really like this phone a lot, but the reception issue needs to be addressed and I don't care if it's a VZ problem or a Google problem, it just needs to be fixed fast.
Seems Nexus is not the only phone with this. I feel bad for those with this trouble regardless of which phone. I am not having total signal drop/outage issue. It just drops to 3G where LTE is weak.

My bars dropped off while driving today. I keep the phone on cdma all the time. When the bars dropped, It dropped the call. I hit the home button and then went back to phone and the bars returned full signal. Happened again a couple of minutes later and I did the same thing and they came back four full bars again.
The caller I kept dropping though said that he had a weak signal and thought it was his phone. THis is the first time that Ive had this problem and I bought it on release day.

I've been having the same issues. Took my first one back for this issue, and the second one is worse. Now the store won't do another exchange, because they couldn't replicate the issue in the store.
Called Tech Support, and when I gave him my signal readings on both 4G and 3G, he sounded sincerely astounded. He said I'm 1.3 miles from one tower and 1.7 miles from another tower in the dead center of a strong 4G area. He said I should not be seeing signal in the range of -100dBm. He told me it should be closer to -75dBm. He said he's sending me a new SIM card hoping that will help. He gave me his cell phone number to call him back Sunday after using the new card for a couple days, and if my issue isn't resolved, he'll start a trouble ticket. He told me there should be NO signal problems in my area, and since this is one of their two top sellers, it will be a Priority One, and they will definitely look into fixing the problem locally.
I know a CSR will tell you anything, but this guy sounded sincere and concerned. Whether or not it does me any good, time will only tell. Until then, I remain...FRUSTRATED.

you should have kept your GN.
my buddy has had the same exact issue with his bionic in different part of the country. it's clearly a verizon network issue, rather than a failing of the GN![]()
you can't compare a 3g network that's been established for years to a new 4g LTE network. they're completely different. even the way your 4g phone receives 3g signal is different.

Excellent article on signal strength perception however it does not address the problem of no signal that a lot of us are experiencing.Have you checked this out? Maybe he is expecting the EVDO signal reading
