Anyone tried this expendable battery?

Is this a bigger battery than the original one?

Do you add this battery to your phone so you have 2 batteries?

That battery is 5000 mah which means it can hold double the capacity of the original Galaxy Note battery. The original is only 2500 mah. This is a replacement, so yes while using this battery you wouldn't be using the original one as well. (But you could always swap if you wanted/needed.)

Replacement batteries are hit-and-miss. You may get a good piece and may last a bit or mostly you will get a bad piece and they will only run full power for a few months.

If Samsung sells a extended battery, I will buy one. Buying from eBay has only given me woes!

Seidio makes really nice products. I've had great experiences with extended batteries from them for my Evo 4G and Evo 3D. I'll consider getting one for the Note at some point.

Mugen are also great for extended batteries - I have the Mugen one and wrote about it here: AndroidNZ: [REVIEW] Mugen Extended Battery for the Galaxy Note - 4500mA of staying power

With extended batteries you get what you paid for, these cheap ones never last as well as they should from the outset and their capacity tends to decay quite a bit over time. There is always the chance that they will fuse/catch fire too, I've known a number of users who have narrowly avoided destroying their $1000 smartphone because they cheaped out with their extended battery.

Seidio just released an extended battery with NFC for the Galaxy Nexus, so I'm betting they'll do the same for the Note. :)

I've just bought one, a friend has the same brand of battery for his S2 and says it works well so will try it and report back.

Is there any way to check the size of the battery once it is in the phone?

The back cover on this is not bad, it actually makes it easier to hold.

50% of the battery left and been on and using it for 13 hours.

When i first got it I used it for 14 hours before it died so things are looking good.

Not really, I ran tests with batteryxl and both batteries showed identical readings so I've stopped using it and leave it in the car for emergencies.

Its not worth sacrificing the look for and I've since bought a second official battery which stays in my wallet, I've never had to swap it yet so I don't think the bulky battery is needed.

What's the advantage of a battery with a NFC ?

It stands for "Near Field Charger" and works just like a cordless toothbrush. You get a base station which has a coil in it (energised by being plugged into a wall socket) and the battery pack also has such a coil. When you put the battery pack in "range" of the base station the magnetic field generated by the base station produces a current in the coil of the battery pack and the battery charges.

The advantage is that you don't need to plug your phone in to charge it, just set it down on top of the base station. I would imagine that it would not charge so fast though.

Hope this helps...

Regards,
Eric Ritchie.

I really want to buy the Mugen battery, but I cannot find any cases that cater for this phone with an extended battery. Does anyone know of any, or at least something to protect the screen ?
