Anyone using MIUI ?

I was just wondering how people like this rom ? I like it so fare and seems to be stable. It does have a lot of the same look as the IPhone but I believe with this I get best of both worlds. I still have trouble with my contacts syncing to my facebook friends.

I've used MIUI-AU in the past, running on Froyo. Except for some minor issues and the lack of a proper launcher, it was running smooth.
MIUI is different, but not really my taste.

Sorry to hear that mate. Perhaps you should try a different MIUI rom?? Which version are you on?? Sometimes roms can be buggy and there is nothing you can do to fix it so best thing to do is try a different MIUI. Id recommend eMIUI by Eevek its fast and stable!

Why can't you guys just stick to the "official" translation by mark at MIUI-dev?

Well Mark has made some changes to the theme that I dont like. If you look at the dailer and folder icons the light grey colour doesnt match with the rest of the dark grey theme. I prefer the dark theme Eevek sticks to and furthermore his roms are always stable!

He hasn't with 2.3.3, it's all stock - some colours are a bit off but this was the same on the Japanese version too. I've left it for now so sticking to Oxygen

Yeah I know that Eddy but Eevek addresses those problems! He tries to give us polished rom. I dont blame you for sticking with Oxygen, GB MIUI has a long way to go before its stable and polished thats why Im sticking with Froyo MIUI for time being

Eevek hasn't released a new version in months which is why I moved on. If he releases a new one then I might give it a go but there's better out there now

I've tried MIUI a couple of times but I just don't like having all the app icons scattered on the screens, I know that you can use folders but I much prefer having an app drawer. I really do like the settings and connection features with the MIUI rom though.

Wowzers, I couldn't have put it better myself. Exactly how I feel about it!

I'm going to look for another rom soon. MIUI was nice but:

a) the fact that there's no app drawer and puts all the icons on the screen is highly annoying

b) wifi bugs out constantly for me - it will stop working after a while

c) it's not that stable - every week it crashes at least two-three times

Does anyone know another custom ROM that you'd recommend?

Just use another launcher. Go launcher is pretty much a clone of MIUI, but with an app drawer, you should try it!

I might just try that, I did buy LauncherPro some time ago, but for whatever reason I stopped using it. I keep trying different ROM's but I always go back to Sense (currently LeeDroid). :)

Maybe you should stick to the version that works for you for time being. I havent jumped from 1.2.4 which was released back in the beginning of febuary its stable as hell and blazing fast as you'd expect from MIUI roms.

Honestly I dunno why people keep moaning about 1.4.1? It's stable as hell. No issues here at all :)

I think MIUI is making some good roms for my desire..
Especially i like the Celebration rom for my desire, running SPB 5.0 shell

But i need a danish language package for that :(
so i can use a danish dictionary for my handcentSMS..

i have seen there is some MIUI rom out that containing MultiLanguage, but is danish supported there..

Also, what about the camera, is it still not working in GB

Thx for a gr8 forum

Its very hit and miss at the moment. Chinese devs have been working on improving the launcher this week so lets hope its better now and they have added the new MIUI music app aswell. But no new gallery this week :(

What's hit and miss about it? And the music player is different already. I'f they make too many changes to it i'm not sure i'd like it. It's great as it is.

Well according to some folks the launcher is buggy and battery life isnt what it used to be on Froyo roms. Personally I hated the whole jean theme so Im glad they are changing the whole theme again.

Jean theme isn't in MIUI 2.3.3 - yet. It's all stock

Battery life isn't as good as FroYo but it's by no means terrible - never had any FCs with anything, though

Cant't comment on battery to be honest. Not used Froyo Miui in ages, as I've used GV and Oxygen for the last few months. Battery is the same as them. Still have to charge every night.

No launcher problems here. Not had it freeze or force close once.

Jean theme? Looks the same to me as Miui ever did.

I'm beginning to wonder? Maybe the version by XavierJohn22 I'm using has had a lot of work done to it? Or maybe I just don't notice these issues  Either way, I love it and it works perfectly for what I need it to :D

I was just chatting to Eddy in the other thread he mentioned there are some colour issues aswell. have you noticed it too?? Xavier adds bits and bobs to his version but its very subtle most part is original. As for battery life I used to get 2 days out of using my phone moderately how is the new kernel on GB MIUI?

Will, go to the Google sign in screen and see if you have what looks like gaps in the writing where the Google T&Cs are? And also on the same page, look at the 'title' of the sign in screen - is this black text on a very dark grey background?

If so, that's the colour issues I'm on about which are stopping me using it
