Aosp 2.1 rom!

THANK YOU MAN!!!! So just do a "Nandroid v2.2 Restore" and my last nandroid backup will rock my phone????

well, it should. I make no promises on this one since I haven't gotten mine to load coming back from 2.1 to 1.5. But I'm 99% certain it's due to mistakes made on my part
 
So you are trying to get back to Fresh as well I see. Yea, Darch's 2.1 is killer don't get me wrong...it's just that after playing with it for a few days and all, I'm used to having all my contacts there from Microsoft Outlook...and the camera does not work.

Maybe when he gets an uber updated openGL working on there...plus the camera and computer syncing on the ROM....I'll head back.

I know it won't take too long for all that to happen...but all this flashing and wiping is killing me, lol. It takes me too long to 'set up' the phone JUST how I like it....to keep starting over from scratch :)

well that's what the nandroid backup is for! lol (if only mine would work...damnit. Should stop complaining about it now lol)

How did it go....did you ever get it to work? (going back to 1.5)

I'm still doing more research, before I try it. I totally see the "restore nandroid backup"....but I want to be sure that is all you have to do when going back from a 2.1 AOSP ROM to Fresh 1.1

Keep me posted and I'll do the same with all the info that I find :)
 
I already went back to Fresh for a bit. I just booted into recovery, wiped, and then restored my Nandroid backup and everythings how it was before I wiped for 2.1
 
Yup....just did it! Wiped (per post above) and did the restore of my nandroid back up. It went flawlessly and now I am back to 1.5 with Fresh.

I feels so naked....lol, even though this is a far more advance ROM with "sense" and all.

It's just there were so many nicer looking things and more 'options' on the 2.1 ROM that I soooo miss. I hope they speed along like there's no tomorrow so I can flash back soon!

Until then, I think I will find a way to port over my contacts from Outlook to Google Contacts....so I can have all my contact when I make the switch-a-roo again :)

Nope, never got it to work. Luckily, my themes and whatnot were extremely easy to get back on, so now I'm at about 90% of what I had before.
 
Anyone else having issues with "downloading" of apps going BACK to 1.5 from 2.1?

I wiped then restored my nandroid....and when I went to download a few apps, it was just stuck on downloading and never finished....

I went back to 2.1 so I could use the market, but was wondering if I needed to wipe and and just flash Fresh 1.1 from the start and not do a nandroid backup?

I didn't have any issues at all, but I didn't restore a nandroid, so that could very well be the problem. I've downloaded a couple dozen apps since I went back to Fresh 1.1

Try wiping, flashing Fresh, letting it boot, setting up your account, then restore a nandroid of Fresh, and see if that works

Yeah I'm guessing just "nandroiding" back to fresh, after wiping was the problem...cause I just wiped, flashed fresh 1.1 and am currently starting all over again. Which is fine......cause I have learned some things since I've been away to 2.1 :-)

Lol, I really wish I didn't have the time to be on here so often. I need a damn job...student loans are coming due, still paying for this semester....FML
 
I hear ya on the student loans! Northern Illinois is wanting their money for this semester haha. Side note, switching back to Gumbo 1.5c heavily modded for the time being. Waiting for the detailed polished and waxed update of this ROM!

I did the whole nandroid back and restore when I went back to 1.5, and did not have any problems, I have installed maybe 5 apps since!

yeah when i went back to fresh i wiped and re-flashed and had a little trouble downloading some purchased and free apps i just restarted my phone like 2 times and then i was good.

Maybe that was it...reboot it a second time. Some machines and software do need/require that.

I just know that when I got it up and running from the first nandroid restore.....I couldn't use the market, which scared the piss right out of me, lol. So I instintively ran back to 2.1 quickly.

Today I wiped clean, did fresh "fresh", and super glad I did....tons of free internal memory again and it was fun setting up the phone (don't know why I like that - was great on 2.1)...lol

There's no point on even trying all these ROM's though..

they can't get cam/bt/mms and other things worked out..

I'm gonna wait for 2.1 and that's it..
 
eh.....it was fun, and a bit of a tease :) But after all was said and done...DFRESH is right.

It's not that long until the good stuff comes out!!!
 
I now have two heros and was wondering if it would make sense to use my extra via wifi connection to root and incorporate some of the advancements that have been made etc. Does that sound like a good idea and does it make sense? :confused:

Have at it! It's not hard to Root, and the new 2.1 ROM is hot!!! Just wayyyy not ready yet....(for most people).

It has no bt, camera, or galleray...ect. Alot of it does work and it's a fairly functional ROM, I used it very avidly for three + days!

Just got tired of not having the extras...the goodies that sense and fresh has :):D:)

Give it a go if you have two Heros.... very hard to brick it if you read and follow instructions!!!
 
i just flashed this rom and the new kernal for it because work was super slow....and im pretty impressed its pretty snappy and functional, i dont use mms and the camera or bt a whole bunch but i seriously love this rom and cant wait till its in tip top shape, i think i will leave it as my daily driver just to prepare myself for the 2.1 sweetness in march (hopefully) and body ever have anyprobs with the touch sensitivity like randomly not working on this rom? that would be my only qualm with it as of this moment but all i have to do it put it on stand by and turn back on and it starts working again...android is so addicting
