I don't get all the hate on AT&T and the love fest for Verizon. I've been on both of them, and Sprint....Verizon was by far the worst of the bunch.

edit: And I don't mean just here...it's everywhere

I think it developed from the problems that AT&T had with the iPhone with its major network problems ever since it first came out. The iPhone brought everyone's attention to AT&T's network, especially with the lack of 3G as compared to Verizon and the reliability issues.

Huh? I can't even get AT&T voice coverage in my hometown, much less data.

I love how "company fanboys" make stuff up... For example everywhere. Have you been "everywhere"? Or is this just an opinion? Yea opinion thats what I thought. :p

Everywhere? Really? Though there is some places that AT&T is alright, but accoding to my friends who are located in other places, the general AT&T is sucky.

It's crap in the Columbia, SC area.
Want dropped calls, use AT&T.
T-Mobile is actually better here, but not by much.

But, as stated above ..... this is not 'everywhere' - just one metro area .. if it's even a metro area. :D

I'm no Verizon fanboy. In fact for the first 4 or 5 years of my cellular device life I avoided Verizon because...

A. They were out-freakin-rageously priced as compared to the competition (especially Sprint). And...
B. Because everyone who used Verizon seemed to flaunt it like a status symbol, much like owning an iPhone.

I didn't want any part of either of those crowds. So I suffered through AT&T first (I don't know that I experienced many dropped calls, but I can tell you that service was spotty, and I couldn't get any bars while standing inside my house. Then I switched over to Sprint. I liked them for a while, but then I got really sick and tired of having to run out onto the front porch (especially in the winter) just to be able to get a good enough signal to talk with my kids.

Then one day I noticed my roommate downstairs in the basement, sitting on the couch watching tv, blabbering away on his cell phone like it was Christmas or something. I was like, "dude, how are you getting service down here? Do you have one of those internal antenna's or something"? He looked at me like I was from another planet. Then I realized that he used Verizon as a carrier.

That was all I could take, if Verizon phones could get a signal anywhere in my home while Sprint and AT&T failed to do the same... then why wasn't I with Verizon? That was about 6 years ago, and I've been with Verizon ever since.

Now that story was only one small place in comparison to all over America. I'm sure in some spots AT&T and Sprint work just as well, and perhaps even better than Verizon. I just don't know to be honest, all I know is how the three compare right here.

I'm no fanboy of anything. I want what works best for me. As far as the "not just here, but everywhere" comment...I meant not just on this forum, but everywhere I read anything about cell coverage. Maybe I should have said "not just you guys, but everyONE". My apologies for the mix up on that.

And actually, I have carried a cell phone pretty much everywhere in this country except the northwest. I've lived in Ohio, Texas and Arizona and have drove between those states as well as others many times.

Most of that time, I had Sprint. Which was fantastic. When they merged with Nextel, the service was a mess during the transition and someone F'd my grandfathered plan...and that was the deal breaker. I left them for VZW, which was nothing but a headache from day 1 with customer service and cell service and crap phones. Been with ATT the last couple of years and have had 0 problems, period. I live near a system of parks, and there is one spot down a valley where I lose service, thats it. It's also not only with ATT, there's just no service in this particular dip.

Coverage is all relative to where you are, and can be good or bad with any carrier. But with VZW I would get groups of texts and VM's a day or two after they were sent. I could see a slight delay if I'm in a poor service area, but it was awful. And others I know have had the same problem.

Exactly. All that matters is what works for where you are.

I'm jealous of the basement signal. I have a home theater/gaming set up in my basement and I didn't get service down there with VZ and still don't with ATT. Well, I do, but it comes and goes...not a solid signal.

I switched to Brand (V) solely for the better android selection. My service is no better no worse than my Evil Empire signal ever was. And as an OTR truck driver i cover about 24 states and have found zero advantage to brand (V) over the evil empire.

I may switch back for the Atrix, and because i am really worried about Brand (V)'s service taking a huge hit when all those fruit fone zombies come running from AT&T.

Again, just MY opinion. and my experience.

Because Verizon is rated the top cellular company (unless you can't afford it lol) by just about every website.

I've used Verizon, ATT, and T-Mobile in 2 states and Verizon wins hands down with reception, quality, and 3g availability.

yea i could totally see you being right and the 98% of tech websites and reviews being wrong. :) take a look at a coverage map comparison

The only issue I had with Verizon in the past when I was a customer was their poor customer service skills. It felt like every time I had an issue, I was always stuck with the damn rep who was having a bad day. Been with Sprint for almost 4 years now and never had one hiccup (luckily).

Okay I'd love to know how you guys are getting these download and upload speeds.

70 down Josh? REally?

That's really unfortunate. I've talked with quite a few Verizon reps and haven't had any issues with him thankfully, especially with trying to exchange devices.

Well, a lot of the hate on AT&T is because of AT&T, who seems to be stuck in the mindset of "Well, we are THE telephone company."

AT&T... I can't make a phone call anywhere within a 1/4 mile distance from Canada. No roaming agreements with Roger's Wireless. So, it latches onto a tower there, and no phone calls.

Yes, VZW is very expensive. But, it "Always works". Unless you are really out in remote country. Then, it's AT&T hands down. AT&T can make a call while in Iraq (Trust me, I was there. And AT&T phones worked there).

I was a Cingular wireless customer then AT&T, I've never had any coverage problems her in St. Louis, and in travels to the east and south. Haven't been west, at least no further than Dallas or Denver.
