Apple is screwed... lol

It's the way Apple operates; slow with the 'new' features so it can be a 'big' announcement and the fans can jump all over it.

Can't fault them though; they are doing pretty well for a company ;)

Like panoramic pictures and a 4 in screen? Someone wanna say Android?

I doubt Apple will ever be screwed...they are just geniouses in marketing.

I almost wonder if every year there is a "List" of features that they need to add to their phones or pads, and just randomly pick and choose when to implement it.

But I do wonder if their customers will catch on to the scheme by the time the 5S rolls around...

The specs won't be worth mentioning and it's still gonna sell well because apple has built a customer base with strong brand loyalty. An iphone user won't be able to say they have a superior phone but they're still gonna buy apple simply because it's apple.

Many android users would probably buy iphones if they were seen to be truly superior technology. Not the same for iphone users to android.

While I agree that Apple has a loyal user base. I think a fair share on Android users were former Iphone users as well. I owned the first 4 Iphones and jumped ship when the HTC Evo 4G was released, and haven't looked back.

But some hardcore users seem to have an unhealthy emotional connection with Apple and will buy their products no matter if it's ahead of the curve or in this instance behind the curve.

Then you could say the same thing about hardware. As long as a phone runs smooth and relatively glitch free, and can handle all the stuff I throw at it, I could care less what generation processor or how much ram it has.

Besides, I seriously doubt most android fans, especially those posting in this thread, would switch even if the iPhone 5 did offer ridiculously superior specs like an 8-core 4g processor, 12 gigs of ram, 258 gig internal memory and a 6000mah battery. This makes most of the hardware arguments in this thread pretty meaningless and all the more laughable.

cant agree with that as hardware has to do with the performance and capability of the phone to perform various tasks where build quality doesnt as it is cosmetic(apart from the extreme case i stated).

android users would be all over a device with those specs. android, iOS, windows, whatever. though some would indeed hold back due to the shackled nature of iOS and its ecosystem.

I honestly don't think I would switch even if the iPhone ever had those specs, because I can't handle the locked I'm down shit. Plus, by the time iPhone ever had anything like that there would already be android phones with higher specs :D

i agree,

this is the majority of iphone users which is why this phone is gonna sell like crack and i wont be surprised if it surpasses the GS3 in sales.

The point is that you CAN carry one in case you need it. Let's see how you replace the battery with a spare when you use all the juice in it on that iPhone..... Oh, that's right, you can't.

Of course I'm not saying that it can I'm just saying that stat wouldn't in my mind be something I would like. Just saying my S3 battery is good but I wouldn't of bought it if someone said o yea you can take the battery out and switch it with a charged one that you can keep on you. just saying once again

Wow thats pretty impressive then how a GPU that "came out a year ago" beats the snapdragon s4 GPU which came out only a few months ago . Its also impressive how a phone that "came out last year " is thinner then this years top of the line smartphones

Me thinks galaxyphonezz be trolling? Why are you so defensive about the I5.

Look Apple set itself up in this position. They're the ones who claimed they invented the smartphone for the masses, invented the tablet for the masses. Claimed every little innovation as theirs and theirs alone. Not to mention all the fanboy/girls.

They're now the most valuable company in the world and they fell a bit short on expectations on the I5. They're going to sell millions of these phones regardless of what we think. So I'm vexed on why you're so rabid in you're defense of the I5?

One reason Appleheads love iPhones is because they have higher resale value and they use that money to upgrade to the latest iPhone. Yes, Appleheads only compare the current iPhone to the previous one. They see the iphone as being in a league of its own which is why they don't care about Android OS phones.

Ive always hated the dpi argument. Its like saying my old 32 inch 1080p tv is better than my new 55 inch 1080p tv because it has higher dpi.

Depends on the viewing distance, if your close enough the 32" screen is better. :p

The same is true of screens on mobile phones, you should be able to work out the rest.

There's still loads of people it will suit. It'll take more than an incremental specification upgrade to damage them beyond the point of no return.

As I was standing at the self-service checkout line at the grocery store yesterday and watched pretty much EVERY person ahead of me fumbling through the entire checkout process on ALL 4 stations, it became evident to me why the iPhone is so popular.

Where are the audio docking station options and other peripherals? There are dozens of products in the same categories to choose from, yet sparse options for the GS3. No comparison. With over twenty million GS3 devices, seems there should be a far better aftermarket presence than now exists.

I think everyone looks a little goofy using self-checkouts.

Bill Burr actually has a very funny skit on self-checkouts.. I'm sure it exists somewhere on youtube. :D

edit: here it is!... start at 2:12 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z4p9C9oJQ0

Because you got people claiming the tech inside the phone is a year old when its clearly not, only a brainwashed android fan would say otherwise... look im not trolling im just speaking the truth, the i5 is up to todays android smartphones hardware wise as it usually is when a new iphone ia launched. Plus im sure your not speaking for everyone? Just because it fell short of the expecations for you doesnt mean it did for the next person. Alot of people are pleased with the new i5 and alot of peoole arent... its the same thing every year, cant please everyone

People seem to forget that if someone doesn't have a problem then they're not going to make a post about how well a feature works. If someone does have a problem they post for help/advice about how to fix that problem and sometimes to complain about it not working, but this is one, sometimes a very small minority but that doesn't mean all users are having the same problem, it means that particular user is having the problem with his one single SGS3. Don't assume all SGS3 have the same problem as one person just because you seen it in a forum.

I remember when someone posted on a forum about their SGS3 exploding in his car, everyone started panicking thinking all SGS3 could eventually explode, but as I don't always assume one post equals every single SGS3, I didn't believe it.

not really. at a certain point of scaling down size, the human eyes are not capable of telling the difference. there is no such thing as "perfectly smooth" when you are combining dots, but after a certain point, it looks "pefectly smooth" to our eyes even tho it isn't.

Tons of sheep will buy it, but yes it is inferior at this point. Samsung, HTC and Motorola have blown past Apple. No wonder they resort to law suits over silly patents like rectangles with rounded corners. Apple would patent the sky being blue if they could.

This is my point. The distinction between iPhone and Android phones has been more about the difference in software.

But if hardware is that important I want to point out that it is possible to have the best hardware AND also pay great attention to build quality and aesthetics. A phone maker just has to have the drive to do it. Samsung obviously knows hardware but could earn a thing or two from what LG is doing. Just take a look at the LG Optimus G.

LG Mobile - YouTube

LG Optimus G E973 - Full phone specifications

Samsung Galaxy S III vs Motorola RAZR HD vs LG Optimus G - Phone specs comparison

Phones from LG have always had great displays. They were also pretty good innovators on the android platform -- first 3D phone, first dual-core phone. But build quality was lacking, battery sucked and software was a freaking mess.

However, with the Optimus G the company seems intent on fixing these past criticisms. The youtube videos show you just how much attention and effort they placed on every aspect of the phone -- new screen tech that uses 70% less power than amoled, new battery tech that allows for 800 cycles (versus 500 for current lithium ion batteries), first phone with with S4 Pro quad core asynchronous processor with adreno 320 GPU (3x faster than the one in the S3), 13 megapixel camera. And attention to finer details such as a 3mm bezel and front display that completely blends in with the black bezel when the screen is off. Now that's how you do a flagship device.

I didn't know if this phone was coming here but LG and qualcomm are holding an event next weds and based on the event poster, it will probably be to announce the launch of the Optimus G stateside. Rumors posted today suggest it will be on verizon. If true, this will be my next phone.

and a few months after the lg optimus g is released another phone will be released thats even better than that one.

thats how it goes with android.
