april 28, $300

The premium price is for LTE, the Droid name, and the 32GB card...do I agree with it? No I don't.... I think $250.00 would be a better price. I haven't checked the AT&T variant so I'm not sure the memory card size, but AT&T's "4G" network is HSPA+ and isn't new. Carriers in Canada have been sporting these networks for a couple of years now. LTE handsets are new and seeing the speeds on my TB, I'm very happy with it!

AT&T has priced their Samsung unit well, If someone is a current AT&T customer I'm sure they will be extremely happy with their version.

What do you guys take of: "Mobile Hotspot feature will be included for a limited time at no additional charge."

Does that mean:
1) If you buy within a limited time-frame, we will give you free tethering all throughout your contract
or
2) We'll give you free tethering for that month or two that you need to figure out root and get it for free anyway.

The Infuse looks awesome and it was the only phone at CES2011 that actually made me care a little bit. Every phone is a ripoff of every other phone; the Infuse has a 4.5" AMOLED screen.

More importantly, why are all the nice big screens going to AT&T? They already have the Streak, give us the Infuse! 4.3" is nice, but it's not enough (that's what she said).

By the way, $180 is the price at Wal-Mart. The ThunderBolt is also $180 at third-party retailers. Therefore, you can safely assume the Infuse will probably be $250 at AT&T, like the TB. I agree though, $300 is a little ridiculous, $250 would be much more reasonable.

Forget that, 300 is insane. Doesn't make any sense to get locked into a phone for two years that has 1yr old hardware. Also with Samsungs track record, we'd be lucky to see gingerbread by Christmas.
I'm going to wait for the SG2 to drop, which should come with GB hopefully installed.

I have a feeling the carriers are more behind Sammy's slow updates than Sammy themselves. Note that Gingerbread already came out for the plain old Galaxy S in Europe.

By the time the Galaxy S II comes out, you're going to be saying "well I'm not waiting on Samsung to release Ice Cream, and Gingerbread is already ancient, so screw that!"

I'll be picking one up from Costco. If something better comes out in 90 days, I can exchange the phone for a different one with no restocking fee. Costco has an awesome return policy. :)

For the thunderbolt it expires may 15th, I would assume it will be the same date for the Charge. My corporate rep told me it was just until they released the new 4g tether price plans.

Everything I have read said it won't come with a preinstalled sd card, have you read somewhere it will come with a 32gb? I have only heard it can handle card that big.

Well now, that is quite lame.

Charging $300 and two year contract for a device with a one plus year old chipset and no internal storage already claims the "lame" coin.

Added:

The Charge epitomizes VZWs mid level device for premium price strategy.

Well Verizon doesn't have a problem with customer retention. They now have the iphone so they can charge whatever they want. People love good coverage. For me sprints coverage is looking just fine for their price I hope they have a phone for 2011 like the evo for 2010. I can't wait to tell verizon to drop their price or I'm gone.

You know what, I still refuse to believe this piece of crap will be $300 on contract. Maybe it means that it'll be $300 the day you buy it and then you get a $100 rebate you have to do. I think Verizon's done it before, too. Can't quite remember, though.

Pretty sure this phone will flop just as hard as everything rim has released in the last year.

Unless the CPU gets some kind of enhancement this will have a slower main processor than the Thunderbolt, with LESS internal memory and a SMALLER memory card. That makes no sense to sell it for $300, and I will call them and tell them such if it ends up releasing at that price. I will laugh my head off until they hang up on me. Hahahahaha. :D

Agreed, it doesn't make sense. There is apparently no advantage over the Thunderbolt. I don't understand their attempt to price it even higher, other than to make the Thunderbolt seem like a good deal. I finally gave up waiting and bought a Thunderbolt. In a 3G area. Battery life has so far been better than expected.

Verizon thinks people will drool over the super amoled+ screen and impulse buy. It is rather nice. It comes with a 32GB micro SD card so that is a difference of $40 between 16 and 32GB.

Wirefly is selling it for $250 and in a month they will sell it for $200. I will wait for the latter unless in a month I decide to wait for a dual core phone.

The Thunderbolt comes with a 32GB SD card, so I'm not sure how this is somehow justifying a higher price for the Charge.

Don't forget that it has an inferior CPU from last year AND vastly less internal memory as well. The Droid Charge could've been so much more appealing with even a lowly upgrade to Samsung's newer 1.2GHz single core. I'm sure it will be an OK phone, but they're expecting last year's single core processor to do the extra work from a higher megapixel photo camera, higher resolution video capture, HDMI out, AND the addition of Berizon's LTE radio tech, which is capable of gobbling up data by the bucketload.

On top of that they put even less internal memory inside than what the Fascinate has. This is the most confusing phone ever released, in my opinion.

Phone will flop...yes the screen will be nice...yea yea! Once u get over that, what else is there? Phone is riddled with last years specs, not to mention its God Ugly...looks like a Blackberry 8700 on Steroids! Seriously, VZW & Samsung really have giant balls trying to get $299 for this phone. Yes LTE is super fast, but charging a $100 more for a phone that is old...by tech standards, is just a little weird and nervy in my book.

The droid charge does NOT come with a 32 gb card so the 50$ premium is unjustified (unless I am mistaken). I think half the reason the tbolt was priced higher was because of that 32 gb card which you can't get anywhere for under 50 bucks so at least it was somewhat justified there. The charge is in no way superior to the tbolt. Yes the screen might be better but i mean it's all relative at that point, it's not like the tbolt is rocking a 16 bit display. However, the phone does look much uglier than the tbolt and from reviews, it is bigger and heaver than the already big and heavy tbolt.

Charge has:

- Less thickness
- Better battery life
- Better screen
- HDMI out
- Also comes with 32GB MicroSD

Once custom ROMs come out with ext4 FS, I'm sure its Quadrant scores will rival those of the ThunderBolt.

Plus, I personally think the phone's design is great. Could use more metal in the actual frame, but the shape is nice!

If it does have a 32GB class 4 card like the Thunderbolt, that actually evens the playing field by a significant $30-40 of value. Then the price is not so outlandish. It's still super disappointing to see the CPU they are releasing it with.

I saw some previews that confirmed it has 32GB sd card and 2GB of internal storage (same as Fascinate). That's not too bad on storage side. Once rooted, this phone will perform as well as Tbolt and better in graphics, games. And it's got better screen, camera, battery.

As for pricing, I don't think it will remain at 300 for long.
