Are the Battery issues really that bad on the TBolt?

well, mandasol, I am happy that you are getting good battery life out of yours, but i must disagree with you, T-44Guy. I was using my first TB regularly (no streaming videos, no games, no pictures or video, no GPS, no bluetooth, screen dimmed to 25%, no extra apps running, no extra apps downloaded, etc.). All I did was some light internet usage (light, meaning checking a webpage or two every few hours). And my TB hardly lasted 4 or 5 hours.
So it seems like the stock batteries are all over the place. Sometimes you just get a good one, I guess. I returned my first TB, now I'm on my second one. Let's see what happens...

when my phone is in sleep or standby mode, i get a 3% drainage every hour on average.
That stuff doesn't matter. You can't measure usage because every widget/apps battery usage is different. I would tell folks if your phone is sleeping and it drains at 1% an hour, there is nothing wrong with your phone. If your phone is sleeping correctly, then you can't blame the phone or battery. I tested this on my stock battery and my 1750 mah battery. Same results.
One day I used my phone for nothing but 4 hours straight with the stock battery. Best you can get out of it is 4 hours and change. With a larger battery I got 6 hours of strict internet time.

Mine is fine as well. I have very minor tweaks -- change the display brightness, change screen time-out plus manual screen locks to reduce display time, Y5, turn off sync for stocks and news -- but nothing that hinders the way I use my phone in any way. I don't baby it, but I get by a full day and charge every night. I could get two days of life out of my Blackberries, but it's not necessary. It doesn't bother me to plug it in before I go to bed.
Are you leaving 3G or 4G on while the phone sleeps? I got 3% drainage when I was leaving 3G on while the phone slept. Never ran any test with 4G on and my phone sleeping.
I have what I consider to be rather exemplary battery life for what the TB is (and it's itty tiny battery).
This is what I did, and I think it's rather tame for battery savings. I have most things set at an hour (or auto off) to update. I know there are people that will say that's a travesty, it's a smart phone for God's sake and the thing should update every 5 minutes. If I need to know right away I will check myself.
I have my screen brightness stock, so I assume it's max or pretty darn close. That right there amounts for a large majority of my battery use. Sometimes when I am just playing with it (that's what she said) I find it to be in the 60-70% of my battery use.
I spent 3.5 hours waiting yesterday and spent the whole time listening to Amazon MP3 (not streaming, installed music), playing games, or Internet and went from 90 to 30 percent. Part of that time I was just listening so I manual click off the screen, which I always do before I put the thing down.
I know I could do a lot to maximize the battery life, adjust the screen would do a lot, also I need to bump charge it. I am over the moon at this point with how happy I am with the phone. I'm planning of doing a standby only test the next few days to see how much it drops just chillin.

I would bet that those that are getting real short battery life have a problem with the phone not sleeping properly.

Killing all the running apps didn't help.
As an experiment I flashed the Virus rom and reinstalled all my apps with Titanium Backup and now my phone sleeps drawing less than -40mAp

Well.. I unplugged my phone at about 7:30am, did not bump charge it back up to 100%, so I probably started at about 96%. I've been on it very heavily today. It is rooted, running a custom ROM and Kernel and is overclocked.
As of this post, just under 11hrs later, im at 48%.
On an average work day, I'd be on the phone MUCH less, and would be in the 70% range right now. I'd consider that great battery life for everything this phone is capable of..
That being said, I do have the car dock w/ 12v charger, plus a spare battery and Micro USB cable in my center console as well as a standard wall charger at work. None of which have been touched today. Gotta be prepared just in case though.. lol

No lie. I have been on my phone playing games and on the net (via 4g and wifi). Since 10 this morning and my battey is at about 30%. So today is a very good day for tb in my eyes. I did though
change the syncs and delete some non needed files yesterday that were running in back round.

Task killers is bad for Froyo. Actually kills your battery faster by killing apps and it screws up Android. There is an article about this from the top developer at Android.
If you unplug the phone when it indicates fully charged you won't need to bump charge the phone. Bump charging is like believing in the tooth ferry. If bump charging was legit, why didn't HTC include this bright idea in the manual for all their phones? Bump charge while rubbing your stomach and touching your nose will improve your battery life if you ask me. Everyone just think about what I just said to see how ridiculous it sounds.

hmm seems like the odds that bump charging does indeed work are greater than it not working
How do you tell if it is sleeping properly?
Today my up time is 35:43 and awake is 2:56 and I have 4% battery left. time spent without sleeping 2m 31 sec

IF you unplug your phone right when the LED flips..
You cannot trickle charge a lithium ion battery without major issues. Instead, when your phone reaches full charge, 100%, the LED will change. The phone will then draw from the battery, allowing it to drain, while still showing a full charge. When it reaches a preset %, 92% I believe, it will start to charge back to 100%. It will continue to 'cycle' until you remove the charger.
Depending on when you remove the charger, and where in that 'cycle' the battery is, will determine where your charge truly is when you unplug it.
Simply unplugging your phone does not use 4%-5% of your battery..
After it drops, plugging it back in starts the 'cycle' again. If you keep an eye on your phone and pull it off the charger right when the LED shows green, it will stay at 100% and drop accordingly.
I agree 100% with this statement.... I would never let a task killer anywhere near my phone.
Having said that, I don't understand why you chose to quote me in your post.
I use Battery Monitor Widget 3c06... free on the market.
Read the help file on how to properly set it up for monitoring the sleep mode.

I also found out, besides Tango, Tickl was draining my battery quick too. Tango seemed to kill it just being in my pocket in about 2 hours. Once I removed it, I was still only getting about 6 hours max to one charge, uninstalled a few apps I had on my D1 that copied over, and now its been running for over 7 hours and im only at 65%.
i didn't think about the apps that carried over until I noticed Tango killing my battery, then I thought about the rest of the apps my phone had. thats what I think it was for me...anyone else have Tickl installed?

So I woke up at 5 unplugged, took a shower, browsed the web, played a game. In school I showed my friends some video and texted all day all on 4g.
It still showed 100%, I thought there was an error. Reboot, removed battery. After I powered back on it says 92%.
Im using:
Extedened Battery from Verizon.

guys, my phone gets infinite battery life, all I have to do is have it plugged into the wall all day!

The extended battery (I have one as well) is double the MaH of the stock battery, so you should be getting 2 to 3x the battery life of the stock battery.
Now saying that I have seen some posts about some of the stock batteries performing better then others. There seems to have been two batches of batteries that shiped with the phone, and it looks like one of the batches might be better then the other.
