Are you guys paying for insurance through Verizon?

I think it's $7 per month and has a $80 deductible. Do you guys usually go with or without it?

Third party? Are you happy with them?

Yes they are amazing. I submitted a claim on my Droid at 6pm on a Tuesday and they had it at my door the next day no BS.

I believe they charge a little more a month though. $10 a month and either $89 or $99 for a replacement but it's worth it. Very easy to do and no problems what so ever.

I didn't know Verizon offered their own insurance I thought they always went third party.

I think Verizon uses Asurion

Most definitely!!! For every device I have had...it does come in handy right when you need it and they are fast. :)

I am thinking about going with squaretrade. Their coverage seems comparible and it's cheaper.

Thank u for mentioning them. They are cheaper. I did just read they dont cover loss or stolen tho. I had Asurion and I lost a Samsung twice and had it stolen once all in a year....squaretrade might not be good for me.

Asurion does cover loss and stolen. But u only get 2 claims in a 12 month period. Unless thats changed from a few years ago.

On a side note, Verizon let me upgrade extra early since I ran outta insurance claims. Gotta love Verizon....lol

Definitely getting the VZW insurance. It more than paid for itself with my BB Storm and several other smartphones in the past. I don't baby my phones at all, they all take a spill eventually and I have no doubt the X will at some point suffer the same fate......

For Smartphones its $7.99 per month, with a $90 deductible. And I see customers every day that wish they had added insurance for their Smartphones. Asurion is a good company, never had a problem with them, and say if you made a claim before 12pm on that day, it would get shipped out, and most likely receive it the next day since they overnight deliver every phone. Also they ask if you had any accessories like a case or holster, and they replace it as well.

I wouldn't go without insurance. Sure the monthly payments add up and there is the $90 deductible but it's still less money than buying a new replacement.

I have Squaretrade on this new lappy. I have assurion on my telephones. I usually lose them more than break them. I am probably Assurion's most steady customer! ;)

$90 a year for insurance on a item that costs $500 to replace, depreciates quickly and with a $90 deductible, seems to me like it does not make financial sense.

Good point. If you can put your insurance premium aside in a bank, then it might not be cost effective. However, most people, like myself, do not have that fund. So, if a phone mishap does occur, then they are grateful to have been covered.

Ask someone who accidentally drops his phone the next day to see if it was worth it to have insurance. :)
