Root [AT&T] HELP with root problems

I tried to root my phone after the newest AOS update and it just didnt take. it says in Odin that it did but the checker app said it wasnt rooted. also on reboot it says unfortunately supersu has stopped working or something along those lines. im just trying to get my phone back to factory settings. ive done this twice but it still doesnt take supersu off! ive been searching all over the interwebs the past 2 days and im at the end of my rope here. someone please help!

Does the phone still boot and would you still like it to be rooted?
Do you know how to boot into recovery? (phone off, hold in Power, volume up and home button at exactly same time until it boots into recovery)
What does it say there?

the phone still boots and works but something feels off. it doesnt run as smoothly. I'd still like to root my phone but this whole situation has thoroughly scared me haha I just dont wanna mess my phone up beyond use.

i did boot into recovery mode and when it pops up theres a list to choose from and when i chose recover it says something about do i wanna recover or flash rom or something and i just hit recover.

completely spaced i had Philz installed. i got supersu off but now i want philz off. i would still love to root my phone but i just want a sure fire way itll work. with the new 4.4.2 update i couldnt find anything concrete. everything was a "it should work" or something like that.

ok so from what i gather your not rooted anymore but you still have a custom recovery installed and you did take the update to 4.4.2?

Well to begin what method did you do to root and how did you unroot your phone? Now there are sure fire ways to reroot and get you all squared away. Im assuming you rooted after you took the update. So you should have been given the knox bootloader installed which is somewhat complicates rooting warranty can be vodied. Ill explain in a bit more but before we get into all that can you go into download mode and tell us what your bootloader says specifically looking into if knox was tripped. Let us know and ill go from there

i tried to flash the stock rom but it keeps failing in odin. when in download mode it says up in the top right

i also tried flashing something that installed supersu and that didnt work. my phone will now not get passed the galaxy s3 splash screen

with the bootloop go to recovery and factory reset that is the general fix for it

what stock rom are you flashing with odin? can you provide link for what your doing?

also wanted to say that it doesnt seem that you have the knox bootloader which is a great. But im wondering if you took the update to 4.3 or 4.4.2 why its not installed

the previous screen i posted is the recovery screen and when i do and factory reset and do a reset the phone just sits at the galaxy screen.

okay so just did some reading and stuff so i was wrong knox is there and this line "warranty bit: 1" means it was tripped and warranty is lost. so with that being said this cant be set back to zero. Anytime you flash a custom rom in the future if you do so will increase the counter. Now with your phone in bootloop you have the option of downloading a custom rom and flashing that via recovery, like i said your counter will increase so thats on you personally imo it doesnt matter sammy wont fix it if needed. Our you can do it the way you are attempting with that thread. Did you use the odin tar from this link that is in the op for the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=227

when you odin does it fail or pass? if it did pass and you havent already tried, try the process again sometimes odin can be biaatch

ive tried it multiple times and it either fails or gets stuck at initializing. i know nothing about roms. i just want one thatll work or thatll let me change the friggen white text in the status bar!

well imo id check out the following roms in no order dirty unicorns, slim, pacman, carbon or omni. they are all very popular and still active. i have dirty unicorns 4.3 on my daughters(wanna try 4.4 version) run smoothly. all of these roms allow for many customizations which changing text in status bar being one they generally come with a theme changer.
