Root [AT&T] Unrooting SG3 failed.

which link did you use?
the 1st link contains a zip file that just throw on sd
put phone in recovery mode choose install zip from sd choose zip and cmw or whatever recovery you have will install
the 2nd link is a tar file that is used in odin

they both pretty much do the same thing except the 1st link also resets the trip counter which is a added bonus from having to use triangle away then odin but anyways cant stress enough the 1st link according to its op should be used only if you didnt install the 4.3 update

Yea i had just not clicked the other link. I started up Odin and checked the PDA, my case AP due to the new version but every time i try flashing it it keeps telling me FAIL! (Auth). I've tried using different versions with to no avail and yes USB debugging is on

I'm assuming they just renamed it to ap. I don't know what the term stands for hence the noob. From what I'm aware AP and PDA are pretty much the same function just renamed for whatever reason

i think i may know the issue, but its just a guess. It could be that im not using the usb cable that came with the phone. It's around here somewhere i just have to find it

You could try. I think xda have a list of s3 modems. That could be why emei says Unknown instead of lots of zeros, you have no modem (baseband).
You'll need either odin or custom recovery to flash one though and I think(?) stock firmware includes a modem anyway

Heh, I gotta agree with you friends I really should have looked behind the scenes of what exactly happens when you root or flash anything, but I just simply couldn't be bothered at the time and just went for it. I'll try that file and see what happens.

Odin failed it. I'm trying to find modems to use, but the tar files I need seemed to be changing to disc image files with kinda miffs me, that or they were removed for reasons I don't know.

Lol my g+ friends are cheeky aholes but yeah they have a point. I blame CM tbh. I think the installer was an irresponsible thing for them to do.
Tbh I don't know how to help mate :(
Have you put a post in the att s3 all things root forum?

As of yet no, but I'm gonna do so. I can't really do anything not even with the CM installer since it won't recognize the phone's firmware. I've REALLY goofed on this on. I've goofed on Apple devices before, but it was a fixable goof that even i knew how to handle. This one seems like it has me stuck between a rock and a hard place and if there is a way out it's going to be very tough to find it. I'm seriously tempted to find out if just literally wiping all the data of the phone and then attempting to put the correct firmware on it would work, but I'm sure the results from that wouldn't be good ones.

You mean in recovery, wiping system, boot, everything?
Please don't do that lol :D
In the g+ community I shared this in we have a catchphrase "odin back to stock" and it usually cures everything man.
I think getting odin to work is your best option. Try different odin versions etc.
What recovery do you have and what happened when you tried to flash stock from there?
You should maybe at least put a post in att all things root with a brief summary of the problem (lost baseband, IMEI.. Odin fails) and a link to this thread.
The phone is definitely fixable

Ps the zips that are flushable in recovery are different from the ones you unzip to flash with odin so don't confuse the two

you and me both rusty are confused and wanna know whats going on.
i can tell ya yeah sure you can try and post in all root section but you likely came to right section because ever since i jumped over to the s3 forums xmas time the att forum is dead.

now i got my daughter a att s3 i rooted it an all.so with a new toy i tried every rom flashed a gizzilion times soft bricked and the link i sent using the odin method bailed me out hell even recently a new rom had came out with multi window feature and once again i forget how atm i soft bricked no os used that same link..so yeah i definitly wanna know whats up.

if you wouldnt mind post a step by step process of how your trying to recover your phone maybe something isnt being done right nothing against you i just no sometimes when doing pc/android stuff and im stuck or something when i figure what i was doing wrong its a feel stupid reason lol

anyways try starting from scratch with your pc uninstall drivers and kies reboot your pc then install drivers(kies optional i never have installed or used kies personally) again once installed reboot, then try to odin your phone..good luck and please keep us informed
