problems seem to be unique to individuals and different setups/settings
there are loads of roms, personally indexing them all is a nightmare so a list of roms with known issues is going to be a night mare and a problem to keep up to date as sometimes people report problems that are not rom related
just make a backup, try a rom and see how you get on with it. if you dont like it restore the backup you made

Here is always a good place to look for roms. Generally if its not here, its some sort of back street, kid in a basement nonsense so avoid stuff not published on XDA.

Also, never get anything too old (or not updated recently). If you read an article on a non XDA page that advises how to flash a rom, look for the date published. If you cant find one and its not obvious, avoid.

The Desire Index posted by SUroot is the best list around. Make sure you READ THE POSTS in detail to see problems and solutions. The threads are often very long but it's essential to know about any issues you may have with the ROM and, more importantly, you'll know what to do if something does go wrong.
