Automatic update taking too much memory

I've been getting the auto-updates every few days, regardless of whether I've powered down the phone and regardless of whether the automatic updates box is checked or not. VERY IRRITATING.

Have yall tried turning off auto sync in the menu/settings/accounts & sync/make sure the box is unchecked. I have no problems with this box unchecked.

Get a widget app that has a sync widget so you can put it where its a little more accessible. Then Turn it on for 1 minute when you want to sync you calendar or facebook, etc. Turn it off after a minute and you should be good.

EDIT: If the market tries to update while sync is on just turn it off and go to the pulldown and clear your notifications.

What I do is go into the Market and find the apps that automatically download and uncheck "automatically download updates". That's a start. If they end up installing, just uninstall them. Also go through your apps. I had a bunch of updates that failed because I had low phone storage. I went into my Hotmail and cleared out 16MB of memory!!!!! That surely got me more room in my phone. I do that with the e-mail and Facebook, just clear all data. Yeah then you have to re-enter your email and paswords for both but it's worth it to clear all that data up. So just try clearing all your apps' data (ones that have a few MB). It's working so far for me so I thought I'd pass it on.

open your market app, then press your menu button (far left button) go to settings turn off notifications and auto update apps .worked for me!!
