Root Awesome Android Update 4 Released

Since i got.my.sequent in nov., i have followed this.forum daily. I wish i was a skilled developer,.bc i have had so much fun learning to use adb and tweak build.prop etc
Unfortunately i got stuck while deodexing after getting cwm beta working and i realized i would just.need.to.wait.on.a rom to be developed. Its crazy how this place went from dead to,epic over the course of a week or two it seems. Anyway, im downloading this rom right now.THANK YOU SO MUCH TC some day when im not broke ill donate bc you rule and im a noob so.can somebody tell me how.to mark his post as 'thanked'??

and as far as the last week goes, this is what happens when someone with programming skills and ocd gets on a mission lol, once cwm was finished that opened up the flood gates and now stuff is just gonna start pouring in. all the devs are coming together and busting ass to bring us new content and unlock the phones true potential. this is a budget phone with alot of power, zte just wasted it all on stupid stuff, we are here to fix that XD

so when i do the factory reset all my contacts and apps and stuff wont be there when the rom is installed. i know i would have backed it up with the nandroid but when i install the rom that means i have to install all my apps again? and my pictures from my camera?

yes, that is what it means, and do not just restore them from the backup either that would be the same as leaving them there in the first place. back up all your stuff to your sd card, and as far as contacts go sync them to your google account. that way when you install the new rom they will be automatically re-entered

i have gone through 4 android phones, and every time ive entered a new contact ive synced it with my google account, so even the ones i entered on the first phone have been on every single one of them without me ever having to re-enter them myself

mmm ok got it. just curious, but have you junkie2100 installed the shinjitsu rom yourself or are you just focusing on getting cm10 on the phone?

im working on downloading the rom now. the only internet connection i currently have is the 3g from the phone tethered to the computer so yea... its taking a while. another hour or so tho and ill have it

thats why it took me so long to get cwm out, i never could get the cm source to be able to build it myself i had to enlist superr's help for the actual compiling part

so just to be sure before i do this, if i back up my apps using titanium back-up, and i have all my music on my sd card, and i back up my pics and put them on my sd card, and my contacts are google synced, i can have everything back safely when i get the rom right? the factory/data reset doesnt affect anything thats in the sd card am i right? sorry i just want to be sure, its my first time installing a rom

factory data reset does not touch the sd card, that is correct, not sure of the effects of titanium backup myself i never toyed with it but as far as i can see there shouldnt be any problem with it, youd have to ask someone else for a more definite answer tho

Someone post some screen shots. I havnt installed it yet, only downloaded it lol plus i been playin halo since 7:00 tryna beat The campaign nd i finish it at 3:40 lol

Yeah, backup with titanium backup! I've relied on it since day one. Back up all user apps & data & if u want system data as well. Then reinstall titanium backup from play store once you enter ur Google account on setup. & restore your apps!

FYI after getting this ROM installed, booted, and setup to my liking my apps are now saying I'm not rooted. Great. I can Root from desktop, but figured this ROM would have root already! But, shit happens lol The voltage app says it too. I'll reboot & see if that fixes it ;) ROMs awesome otherwise!

Can't take screenshots using ShootMe app cause it doesn't have root! Gotta go to bed though... I'll reboot it now & see if it comes back lol If not then I'll use laptop Tom :)

I installed this rom earlier and it has root. Awesome too. Seems quite snappy and I have not even oc'ed :)

ok good, i was like "WHAAAAT?!?!" i would have thought shinru would include root on there. and to all of those interested ive found supersu to be ever so slightly more effective on the stock rom, luckypatcher had issues with the original superuser program

im gonna install it when i wake up and play with it but for now im going to bed its been a long day, between trying to figure out cm10 and my gfs pms im bout to lose it lol

U dnt need root for screen shots cuz this phn has Built in screen shots

Rom already has root access..... Don't know why it didn't work for your phone.

Keep in mind that pictures are stored to the internal Sdcard so it would be advised to copy those over to your sdcard before factory reset. that way you wont lose them.
