Root Back to stock ROM or RUU

A couple of days ago I tried using an RUU but it wouldn't work because the phone kept rebooting. It's a little more stable now with Mik on it, but I don't trust it.

I'm not exactly sure which file to get.
Should I get a file for hboot to load?
If I do that how do I get the stock recovery back?
When I have tried to download files they tend to be bad links.

I have this file: RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253.exe
I don't remember where I got it. Maybe I'll try running it just to see what happens. Before it wouldn't run because the phone wouldn't boot.

Well, still can't connect to my android phone.

RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253.exe

what are your concerns about running mik? as long as you do the proper wipes (cache, and dalvik cache(and make sure you wipe from front to back)) and install a good download of the rom you want to run, theyre as stable(or sometimes moreso) than the stock rom. I run CM7 (morespecifically, the sony xperia version) and have run it for quite some time, barring when i delve out into the unknown of the new roms that used to be oh so plentiful. You can have a very stable OS on your Evo while being rooted and custom rommed.

That is an ancient file. I wouldn't use it. I don't think you want to go back to Eclair .

Is your device able to access the SD card within the ROM you're running? I'd still recommend trying out that optimized stock ROM I linked you to in your other other (other?) thread (maybe a guide can combine all of your threads into one, and you can just post in the one? I'm getting confused as to what the situation is at this point).

How's your reboot situation? Is your device any more stable than it was?

I was trying to keep the issues separate. I thought that might be better than one long thread that meanders.
The phone is bricked now.

I flashed a stock ROM that was already on the sdcard with amon ra.
I thought a stock rom might make the RUU work better.
It would only boot loop.
Then I found this RUU
RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.54.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.0808_NV_2.15_release_220182_signed.exe
I reread some instructions I found that said to make sure you were in Fast Boot. So I ran it with the phone on the Fast Boot menu.
It seemed to be communicating with the phone and the bar on the phone was going along fine. It then put a little triangle exclamation point next to the green bar and gave me an error on the computer screen saying I needed to get the correct RUU and try again.
Now the phone won't turn on at all and I think it's bricked.

The instructions did say that I should turn off Fast Boot (the one in the operating system when the phone is booted) and I don't think I did that since it wouldn't boot.

what are your concerns about running mik?
Mik was cool, literally. The phone was room temperature.
I thought maybe Mik was keeping it from accepting the RUU.
I just thought I would try running the RUU with a stock ROM installed.
I didn't realize it was supposed to run the RUU while in the Fast Boot menu.
Usually I'm much better at following instructions.

Have you pulled the battery? Does it charge when you connect it to AC power? Are you sure your battery isn't dead?

P.S. Regarding the multiple threads - The way I see it, every separate issue you've encountered is related to the initial reason you came here - your reboots, and trying to find a solution to them. From the perspective of someone trying to help you, it makes it a LOT easier if we can see all of the history of your issue, and what you've done so far. That helps us as a community to work together to help you in one place, and keeps all the responses together (and helps to prevent duplicate/conflicting advice). Some of the most helpful threads are those long ones that start with one issue, but end up with another. Usually in the end, though, we're able to find a solution (even if that solution is to send it back for repairs).

I have three batteries and an external charger. The light does not come on when I plug in the cord.

I've been having problems with this phone for a long time so I'm not too upset.
When it first started heating about 9 months ago I thought it was the battery. New batteries seemed to help then. I thought maybe the ROM I put on was mischarging the battery or maybe it was leaving it plugged into the car charger in a closed car in the summer? That right there might have ruined something in the phone.

Have you tried a CM7 rom yet? Its AOSP and VERY customizable. The only issue ive encountered is the necessity to have a sense rom as a nand to do prl updates. Other than that, solid :)

I have no idea what any of that means so that will be no.
But if I ever want to mess with it in the future I'll know how to do it.
