Root Backside keeps freezing!!

Hi
I have recently downloaded backside onto my phone and I am. Having one problem. When I am in a app and the screen times out I turn the phone back on and I can not do anything except press the power button. It won't even shut off until I take the battery out. Please help! Thanks

same things happening to me but mine is it freezes with in 5 mints every time just now re flashing it hope it works

That usually happens to me if I'm not connected to any internet connection at all whatsoever ......I have no service. I'm also on the optimus M not V

I think its the same issue we have been discussing in the [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme thread.

I have the latest version and it still does happen. It is very strange. I noticed it seems to happen more often if I use the buttons to wake the screen instead of the power button. Then after unlocking the phone, it freezes and the battery needs removed.
While it still happens, it's no where near as often.

"How many of those times did you verify the MD5?"

I verified mine and it still happens. I believe it is a bug. It seems to happen randomly, not by doing an exact thing of steps.

I'll need some details to troubleshoot this. Just saying it's freezing is not enough to find out what's happening.

What apps do you normally have running in the background?

Which lockscreen are you using?

What did the screen look like when it froze?

Have you tried running fix_permissions in terminal?

Have you tried a complete wipe/format (standard when nothing else works)?

I'll be glad to help, but please give me some information to work with. ;)

its just like I posted on your roms thread. You said yourself you seen it as well on that thread.

1.) I have had it happen with just the messaging app as well as email. Nothing else. I have even seen it happen on a cold start with no apps even running. I come back to it after its booted for a bit, and it happens sometimes.

2.) I am using the standard unlock slide, then the pattern lock. I have the skip security option disabled. I have the display calender event, music (only when music is playing), display battery stats turned on/checked.

3.) When it froze, it displays my home screen, yet I am unable to move it, tap anything. Buttons do not respond. Hitting the power button turns the screen off, even if I wait a little and hit the power button again, my lock screen is not displayed, and I am taken to the home screen, unable to do anything.

I am running go launcher by the way. I do not know if this helps. Thought I should mention that. I am also using link 2 sd. I have go launcher set as a system app, so It is not linked.

4.) No I have not, as I have no clue how to do so.

5.) Yes.

Hope that helps!

A complete wipe/format fixes most things that seem unfixable. ;)

First, backup your apps with TitaniumBackup

1- Reboot into recovery
2- Wipe cache and dalvik cache
3- Do a backup (important!)
4- Under mounts, format boot, system, data, and cache
5- Flash the ROM zip file
6- Flash gapps
7- Reboot (will take a long time)

Once rebooted and signed back in to your Google account, download TitaniumBackup and restore your apps, reload your settings in ADW Launcher settings, and your back in business. ;)

@ JerryScript

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately I have done this and the issue still occurs. Verified the file, all of that. That's why I am so confused. I even had it happen when I did not even have link 2 sd on my system. I have had it also happen with no apps on it at all, (just google's apps) just a blank slate. Just the rom it has happened. I directed another user to this thread who said he used the slide to unlock and then the pattern. I am wondering since we use the same lock screen and are having the same issue it has something to do with this lock configuration?

I have this happening too. Sometimes it shows half lockscreen and half homescreen. If I press power button after that the menu shows up and I try to reboot, phone responds to clicks, shows power prompt but that is it, does not reboot. I have to remove battery.
I had my homescreen autorotate(ADWLauncher settings) so I disabled it today and will see how it goes.
I don't want to disable all rotation/animations for now.

Do you also have the standard slide to unlock and then the pattern?
I am wondering if this is the issue.

I'm beginning to lean towards ADW Launcher's rotation settings being the culprit.

I honestly wish CM had never backported the ICS rotation animations, it's been nothing but trouble for some people ever since they did.

Note- I do not use homescreen rotations under ADW Launcher (my widgets/app layout looks weird in landscape), and I have rotation animations turned off under CM settings - Display. I do not get the screen freezes mentioned, nor have I experienced one for the past two months.

Please let me know if these types of changes work for you (at least test this way for a day or so, then if you can't live without rotations, turn them back on). ;)

Thanks JerryScript. I just checked and apparently I had already disabled rotation animations under cm settings. I also use go launcher, not adw. Go launcher is set to rotation, but there is no animation effect. This makes me even more confused.

I occasionally have lock problems, but I'm still able to access the phone via adb usb when it happens. The next time it happens and I'm by a computer I could capture some logcat files and see what processes are running if that would help?

For process and logcat/dmesg info use OS Monitor found in Google Play Store. It has process info, network info, connection info and you can view and choose to export the logcat and or the dmesg.

Yes Please!

Okay my phone locked up (actually the screen locked up) last night while access bluetooth settings. My guess is that it's related to screen rotation. Jerry I will PM you with the location to access files I pulled regarding phone state.

i have been having this exact same problem. very annoying as its happening more than once a day. i have been updating roms as they come out but all of them have this problem. i finally disabled ADW rotation yesterday and will see if it happens again. thanks to Jerry and everyone helping him to make this rom even better.

For what it's worth, I am running mg666's latest build. I have rotation animation turned on and use go launcher with the home screen locked in vertical mode. I have not had any problems with the dreaded screen freeze on unlock.

Mine freeze every 30 mins some times its just freezes and I have to pull the battery out. Other times its freezes like the Facebook app and half the menu and when I hit the power button to lock it that freezes on the screen to. And it gets worse when I mess with any of the adw settings
