Root Backup Assistant app gone?

Hey guys. I'm confused about what may have happened to Backup Assistant. I have been using it since I got my Ally and have had no problems. Recently I had issues with my phone so I went back to stock but can no longer find the app in the market. I have no way of getting all my contacts back now and it's really frustrating. Anyone have any thoughts?

Go on verizonwireless.com on your desktop computer. Sign into your account. Look under "My Services". Your backed up contacts will be there and can be downloaded to your PC. Download the file to your desktop. Then Import the file you just downloaded into your Gmail contacts. This is done by going to "Contacts" "More actions" "Import", then point it to the file that's sitting on your desktop. Then go on the phone and set your gmail contacts so that it syncs with your phone contacts. Then never worry about having to screw with verizon backup assistant ever again.

Hey thanks for the reply. I figured this stuff out yesterday and am SO happy to no have to worry about Backup Assistant anymore.

Yes this is deffinately the way to do it.
Its a much better way of backing up contacts

would anyone happen to have a way to get the application back on the phone? I just used backup assitant to get my wife's contacts from her dumbphone to her new ally now i rooted it and when i go to the My services page it acts like i have never used backup assistant.. I was hoping someone who still had the app could give me the .apk and see if that helps!

I did that.. and for one it's not under my services it's under messaging.. but like I stated in my post it acts as though i have never used Backup assistant but i know i did becuase i backed up her contacts to BA right before i sold her old phone and got her this ally..

So she has no contacts under "My Services" then "Backup Assistant" on the Verizon web site? You need to look under My Services, not messaging. That's where backup assistant backs up your contacts to, if none show up then they weren't backed up to begin with and its why they aren't showing up in backup assistant on the Ally.

both tabs link to the same site.. it's supposed to be the backup assistant webpage.. but for some reason it's acting like she never used backup assistant and know that isn't the case.. that's what makes this so frustrating when I got her the ally it was stock so i used the BA to get her contacts on to it.. then i rooted/installed velocity 1.0 which doesn't include the BA app/service and for some reason the whole day she used the phone on stock (with gmail contact sync on) none of her contacts actually sync'd to the gmail "cloud"

It shouldn't have wiped data that's already been synced, all my data from a dumb phone I had four years ago is still on mine. I just imported into gmail via the posed method.
If you have no contacts @ the Verizon site they are lost. Maybe Verizon can help you get them back.

well what i am gonna do is make a nandroid of my current setup on velocity...flash back to stock and see if they back up then make sure they sync to google then flash back to velocity and let google sync them... not fun but oh well...:(
