Root Baked Snacks 1.8

Loaded it tweaked it and battery still drains pretty fast. That is the only real drawback for me since battery life is most important when bouncing in and out of meetings and keeping up with the real world.

1.8 flashed with #6 kernel works best for me. I unplugged my phone roughly 10 minutes ago and it still 100%. When I had 1.7 it would drop right away to 99. I don't overclock or underclock.

For those with 1.8 stock, is your phone as smooth as this one? To get 1.8 as smooth as this I had to flash kernel #6 over it. Supposedly 1.8 had built in kernel 6 but no way did it run like this stock. At least not on my phone. I'm getting confirmation about 1.8 with kernel 6 on Baked Snack forum. Hopefully I get an answer.

It was confirmed over there that 1.8 comes with kernel #6 by default. Did you do a full wipe when you installed 1.8?

Yups. I do a factory wipe, cache wipe, then dalvik wipe any time I flash any dev roms even if its just an update version. I tried 1.8 stock twice. But still got the same result. In between did 1.7 and saw a difference. That's when I decided to flash kernel #6 on top of 1.8.

Well that is very interesting. I've been running 1.8 since it came out last Saturday night and I found battery life to be similar with 1.7 and phone responsiveness to be similar as well with the exception of scrolling in the browser, with 1.8 it just seemed choppy to me.

Just did a nandroid backup and flashed kernel #6 and that choppiness I was seeing in the browser is gone.

See that's what I'm saying. That's why I don't think 1.8 has kernel #6. Or maybe it's not the complete kernel? Anyway, I'm very happy with 1.8 with #6 kernel on top so I'm keeping it this way. I really dont know what can top this right now.

Ok, I just reflashed 1.8 again and flashed kernal #6. I'll give a try for the evening and see how I like it. I won't crank up Launcher Pro to give it a fair test with it's version of Sense.

Do the web scroll test and run Dungeon Hunter and move around.

Where are you getting this kernal from? Since they will not let me onto there site. I would like to see if I can actually get better battery performance with an overlay of kernal #6 on 1.8

I agree, after flashing kernel #6 over 1.8, this is the best ROM I've run so far. Very responsive in all aspects and battery life has been great. Not even running setcpu and standby time is the best I've experienced.

quick question guys. I have run baked snack 1.7 but did not like the removal of some sprint items like navigation and nascar so I flashed back to stock. If I try 1.8 and then flash #6 kernal how can I get navigation and nascar back?

I just installed BS 1.8 (if you donate you get access sooner) unlike any other updates, even with a nandroid data restore it didn't restore my theme so I had to install my theme again. it also added sprint zone and brought all the stock apps I deleted. sprint tv, flicker, peep, twiter, news. I had to remove them again. I didn't give the kernel a chance, I switched it right away back to netchary. So far so good, I don't see any difference in 1.75 vs 1.8

How did you remove sprint tv and sprint zone?

Yeh i will get it off the site but just goes to show i need to stick with Flipz he emails you and lets you know where to get the latest update. Plus his battery life is the best of all i have tried.

For realz... Is that needed?

I came from Fresh 3.3 as well and I am not noticing much of a difference in either performance or battery life so far.

Same here not running setcpu either.

As far as those asking where to get kernel #6 unfortunately it isn't being released right now to the public. I'm not really sure when but you can get it if you register on his site. I have no regrets in registering. My answer to questions on Baked roms or future release/ beta are answered much quickly there.

Edit: heres the website. www.bakedsnackshack.com

When you flash rom it gets rid of them again. If you flash fresh rom it creates a folder in your SD card with sprint apps incase you wanna reinstall. After you install fresh then go back to Baked 1.7. The folder wont get deleted out of your sd card. Reinstall the missing sprint app you want back over on Baked.

Has anyone else had tether issues after flashing BS1.8? If so how did you fix? I tried to remove and reflash with 2.0.5 pre-9 again but no luck.

Thinking of going from 1.7 to 1.8 but want to be sure tethering and 4g work.any confirmation on them working on 1.8?
Thx

I don't use tethering but my 4g works fine on 1.8. (Oh and I highly recommend a full wipe when going from 1.7 to 1.8).

I had to go back to Fresh 3.3... Loved the way the ROM looked too.. Couldn't get the awake time to stop when it was time for it to sleep. Flashed over CFS#9 and #10. Kept doing the same thing.. :(

I only installed bs 1.8 this morning after running fresh 3.2 and 3.3. I have been using 4g, wifi tethering (pre9, not the one in the market) and haven't had any issues. As a matter of fact, I haven't found anything about this rom that I don't like! I just wish there was more information on it. Xda and here both have a lot more info on all the other rom's. Bakedsnacks? Not so much. Thinking I am going to sign up at bakedsnackshack.com so I can see those forums and maybe try out kernel 6.......
