Well that's an interesting question. If I'm in a geostationary orbit (interesting: my phone's dictionary knows "geostationary" ) I'm definitely in space (at least 35,000 km outside the atmosphere). But if I slow down I will lose altitude, and if I slow sufficiently I'll fall to Earth. So I'd argue that in that case there is definitely an up and a down

So, to bring this back on topic, banned for sending me off on a tangent.
