barnes & noble ereader

Their foot dragging is inexcusable. The Nook is itself Android - and a pretty decent tablet at that.

Meanwhile - this probably won't help any - but - I recommend Aldiko, it's a good basic freeBook reader and accessing Project Gutenberg is just this easy:

Gutenberg:Aldiko - Gutenberg

And, not knowing why they chose the lame "PG Mobile" name for the custom catalog, I just named mine for what it is - "Project Gutenberg" - at least I can remember that.

Follow your nose, with epub files you can also get the B&N and Amazon free books into Aldiko - it'll take a little googling but it's not hard.

I think it's a strategic delay. If they release an eReader app for all android devices, who's going to buy the Nook?

I think you're right - but - doesn't fully explain why they have an iPhone offering.

I'd think they'd want as many devices as possible generating book revenue - their actual Nook sales might not be so great compared to that.

But - corporate marketing never makes sense to me.

The android e-reader is in beta. Though it seems odd that an android device would lag behind the release of the apps for other platforms, keep in mind that nook was launched late last year. That is well before the firestorm of android devices proliferated across the world.

you can import an ebook that you got from barnes and noble into Aldiko. Its not as simple as an app would be but just download the ebook to your computer and then share it with your phone and aldiko will recognize it.
