Root battery by 1%...

How can I get my battery widget to tell me by 1% nor 10%? I use battstatt and I've seen pics of people using it showing the battery life by 1% increments.

There is not a way right now to get the native battery to show 1%, there is a file on the phone that reads in 1%, but motorola does not use that file.

I use Battery Monitor, the 1% reading will show on the left side of the status bar and will have battery stats in your pull down. It has some nice features and I have not seen any battery drain using this. It does read the 1% file in the phone so it is accurate.

Yeah, the dev for BattStat should have changed his app long ago. The charge_counter file (that provides the 1% delta) has apparently been around and available for the Droid X since Froyo was released (I changed my app as soon as I became aware of that file).

+1 to this ^^^ (especially if you are talking about the one from Simmo Publications--Andy is a member here at AF and monitors his thread very conscientiously).

Cheers!

of course when you hear of anything that has battery stuff in it, be sure to wait for scary to post :p

You know it! :D

By the way, I've got a new version of BattMonX almost ready to release that plays nicer with CM7. I heard from one user that was running my app and CM7 and figured-out that CyanogenMod changes the getprop.ro.productname variable's value for the Droid X and that affected how my app recognizes that you are a Moto Droid-class phone. So, I had to take those changes into account and made a few other minor tweaks that will make the recognition of the charge_counter file a little better handled for future OS releases.

Cheers!

you should make your device unlock the bootloader....

just imagine if we installed battmonx and it "accidentally" unlocked the bootloader... hahaha classic

Loved your app until I hit CM7. It was only showing increments of 1% so stopped using it. Is this going to be updated soon?

Battery Monitor by SIMMO is great. Clean and simple notification in the corner. Now only if Power Control could get their stuff together and get us a working notification pulldown widget I would probably not use CM7 at all.

Yeah, sorry 'bout that...(you meant 10%, right?).

I didn't know about the changes in CM7 with how it impacted my app since I don't have CM7 installed.

I built a patched test version for the only user that reported an issue to me about two weeks ago just to make sure it would fix the issue (please let me know if a new ROM or O/S update impacts the app).

Since then, I've added more logic to make it a little handle how CM7 changes how they identify a phone and made a option to explicity allow you to tell the app to use the charge_counter file for the non-Moto Droid-class phones. I've been testing this on my phone, my HTC Eris, and my son's D2G to make sure it works okay.

I made a few more tweaks two days ago and I think its ready-for-primetime now ;). I'll try to publish it tonight or tomorrow.

Cheers!

Yes I was, have been using it and it is great. Here is the link to this in case anyone needs it. It is not the easiest to find on the market, others seem to come up first when searching.

Yeah, there are a lot of "Battery Monitor" apps out there, LOL...just look for the one from SIMMO Publications. Andy's a great guy and worked very hard on this app (there's the free and a paid version that has more features (not sure what those are at the moment)).

One of the cool things about his app that distinguishes it from others is that it can do %full estimates based on voltage, so its useful for those with after-market or extended-capacity batteries.

Cheers!

Just installed this, I'm on cm7 nighty 20 1% works great.
Thanks guys

keegan,

It'll probably revert back to reporting at 10% intervals until I get my new version published to make it "stick".

I'll post back here when I've got it published too (or if you can't wait for the update, send me an email and I'll send you the version I've been testing with (scary.alien@gmail.com)) which should be very close to what will be published.

Cheers!

Yes - 10% - sorry - multi tasking - and apparently not well! Great app, looking forward to the update. Thanks for your hard work.

Is this the battery monitor you speak of?

If so damn. Over 5 bucks for it?!

Hey scary,

Does your app do 1% increments?

Thanks!

Oh, you bet!!! ;)

Just grab it from the Market and check it out (free and donate version available--they are identical :)).

The version that'll work better with CM7 will be published tonight or tomorrow.

Enjoy!

Thanks you are the man scary!

Cheers brother!
