<--- rom and kernel details are on my phone on the left

pls advise what other info/screenshot i need to post to help me understand what's happening

thanks y' all

Were you using the phone during that time, or was it idle, with the screen off? Have you plugged the phone in or rebooted it yet? If not, and the phone was idle, open up spare parts (which you should have as a part of mikfroyo), and go to Battery Information. On the top drop down, select partial wake usage. For the second dropdown, make sure it says since last unplugged. What do you see in the list, and how much time does it say for the top things on the list when you tap them? Let's start with that.

EDIT: bvbull200 beat me to it :).

Nothing looks particularly out of the ordinary there. The whole "0" thing is basically process 0, which has to do with the kernel level. It's either a bug in Spare Parts, or it's some representation of data used by the system. I don't think anyone really has a good explanation for why it shows up there all the time, but I can tell you that it happens to me all the time. I've never noticed any issues caused by it. In the "other" section, that's just showing how much time those certain things have been running or just on. Showing 78% for wifi just means that you've had it on for that percentage of time since last unplugged. It doesn't mean it was actually transferring any data.

Was this while the phone was idle or were you using it?

EDIT: I must be typing slow tonight :p

LOL, so there is a rivalry that's been going on here ei :)

Ha ha...no, not at all. I posted a reply just after him in another thread and jokingly questioned whether I would ever beat him to a response.

As for your current issue. Nothing that stands out to me, so I have to defer to akazabam once again :o

within that hour that it dropped i was just checking facebook probably every 15 or 20 minutes as well as gmail and yahoo mail :(

Mine did a similar drop from about 50% to 8% in a matter of 2 hours. I blamed Slacker though. Odd that I listened to Pandora for 8 hours and it dropped from 80 to 5o ....actually....in that 2 hours I checked Facebook a few times....I wonder. Are you running that newest version of Facebook?

hmmmm i'm actuallyl in 3g but since im home i have my wifi on and its been trying to connect for hours now, i think. do you guys think that was it, sometimes i have to restart my router for us to connect to wifi.

i stopped using the facebook client for days now and been checking via the internet (using dolphin mini). i was just trying to see if it would be better that way for the battery but still i dont have a conclusion for that :(

Hm, it could be facebook; been known to happen a time or two (or several thousand). You'd think it'd show up in some of the usages somewhere. Either way, go ahead and go to "battery" under about phone. Do you see an exceptionally high awake time vs up time? Just because it doesn't show up in spare parts doesn't mean the phone wasn't being held awake. Sometimes it just doesn't register right. I've had it happen.

Good info. That's probably the issue right there. When wifi is not just on, but constantly trying to connect, the battery can drain very quickly.

EDIT: and while you're at it, check awake time anyway like I suggested. It could have been constantly trying to connect and holding the phone awake. Regardless of wake time, though, I think this is definitely what happened.

up time is 12:18

awake is 4:21

i have this check yesterday just to verify if i need to downgrade my PRI.

yeah most probably that was it, i did not check earlier as i have not been experiencing connection problems recently. maybe its time of the month to restart my router.

Yeah, I used to have an older router like that. It would randomly not connect until I turn the router off and back on. Finally, after one OTA update or another, it just refused to connect at all. I bought a new router, and haven't had a problem since. How old is your router?

as far as i know att uverse just replaced it maybe 2 or 3 months ago, not sure though if its new or a refurb LOL. the wireless router is built in to there gateway/modem.

Lame. lol. Having any other wifi issues with any other devices? Has it always done that? Install wifi analyzer, and see if there are people near you using the same channel. That can cause problems like this, if so.

well we have bunch of machines connected but if one disconnects and then try connecting again then it will be a problem, not all the time though :)

i'll try the wifi analyzer and look at what's going on in the area :)

thanks a bunch

update: o my there are lots of wifi signals im getting and almost all channels are being used :(

Hm, that could be the problem. Try switching the least used one.

what are the UID processes?

since unplagged all i did was to check facebook via internet, listen to poweramp via bluetooth headset, send smsm trhu handcent, made a phone call ... guess that is it.

please advise

thanks

funny thing is..I think mine was the opposite lol. I think I turned wifi off...and was streaming over 3g.

oopsie

UID is basically the user id of a process. I'm not sure why spare parts is displaying that, specifically, but it could have to do with apps that use actual system functions. That's just a guess, but I don't see why else it would be displaying that rather than the actual app. In any case, there's no simple way of correlating those exact UIDs to the apps that ran under those UIDs. You can install Quick System Info from the market. Under the processes tab, you can see all of the running processes. Press on any process, and select details. You'll be able to see the User ID (UID) from there. I'd start by finding the processes for the things you know you used (facebook, poweramp, handcent, etc.) and seeing what their UIDs are. Perhaps you can make a correlation.

EDIT: 10019 is apparently gapps, or so says my phone.

EDIT2: That'd be the Google services framework, btw, in case you were wondering.
