19+ Hours and still kicking at 55% battery. I have 3G, BT, Wifi and GPS all on. I did the CDMA fix and disabled GoogleTalk (I don't use it). Friendstream is set to 4hour update, Gmail is Push. I am not in a 4G area.

EAT THAT TECHCRUNCH!

How do I feel like I am back in first year engineering class? Oh, the graphs of the battery discharge rates reminds me of some of the courses. As far as the phone takes me through the day at work without charging, I am good. I will leave the discharge rate for the engineers.

Hi-

I've followed all the notes on this thread, and the other battery threads. I was hoping someone could help me with some very specific support -- personal and phandroid "system" thanks will of course, be forthcoming.

Unlike most of the screen grabs of the battery screen from folks, that show Cell Standby as the biggest user of the Battery, mine shows the "Android System" as the biggest user by far. Any thoughts on why? Can you help me diagnose this?

I've turned of Google Talk.
I've done the GSM/CDMA trick (to show CDMA prl)
I don't have new or special apps. Just pretty much stock (Mail/ActiveExchange)
No 4G, just on 3G

Thank you!

See, this is exactly the reason why I'm dying to get this phone. I love this shit! I don't think I can hold off any longer!

+1 mine as well

someone has a little fix for the battery dying quick problem
Preparing...
With the phone in the on position.

Fully charge the battery with the phone on... (until the led turns green.)

Once the led turns green, unplug the charger until the led goes off.

After the led goes off, plug the charger back in. When the led turns green , power off the phone.

now.... with the phone fully powered off...

1. Unplug the charger.

2. Wait until led goes off.

3. Plug charger back in until the led turns green. When it turns green, unplug the charger again and go to step 1.

4. repeat steps 1 and 3, 10 times. This may take anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 mins per cycle. Typically only about 1 minute. though.

DO NOT DRAIN THE BATTERY. The goal is not to empty the battery and recharge like ni-cads (those have memory, these don't). These are lithiums, so we need to do the opposite
.Battery problem, try this. - xda-developers he says the cells arn't charged evenly.

I have done everything from this thread and then just did the battery charge thing off and on and so far i have Up Time (2:52:10) and Awake Time - (1:30:45) and my battery level is at 65% already. This is with light use. 1 missed call and a few website searches.

I really think there has been a bad battery batch that has gone out. How can one person have the same shit as the other guy but his battery lasts all damn day. Makes me angry lol. Only thing i havent done and don't want to do is a hard reset. To much stuff to setup after that. I honestly dont think that is the problem though. It has to be something with the battery.

Btw my Cell Standby is 32% battery use and this was after doing the cdma thing.

1. CDMA
2. Google Talk disabled
3. ATK removed
4. Charged battery full and then charged while off
5. Running 3g, no wifi, no bt, no 4g even though i get good reception here.
6. GPS is off

I mean hell it really does suck. I can't even go out on the weekends to the bars without my phone dieing before i get home. Pretty pathetic.

To be honest, I am now getting 30-40 hours on a charge. Including heavy web surfing and heavy phone use. I have advance task killer taking out the auto programs like sprint football and mp3 store and I really do not have any complaints. I do tether it randomly through the day to down load or send files. But only about 10 mins at a time. I really do think that there are some misbehaving stock programs ruining the battery life. I think that the apps like flicker, sprint football, and mp3 store are sucking all the battery life. Because as soon as I turn off ATK, all the program pop up and my phone dies within 3 hours.

Well that would mean that it would be saying 0% is about 3.75 Volts, seems like a pretty high cut out voltage to me.

Correct, download the BatteryLife widget from the Market and turn on additional information and place it on a homescreen. Take notice of the original xxxx mV and the xxxx mV when it's down to ~5%.

And of course, your battery discharge may not match that shown on the above Li-ion graph.

Just wanted to comment on the effectiveness of disabling Google Talk. I did a normal overnight charge with the phone off. Turned it on at 8:30am and it is still at 32% at 10:55pm. No kidding. That's after a whole day in a terrible signal area which used to drain my Pre in a 4-6 hours. Took several flash pics, texted, 30-40 emails, 5 calls.

The phone has been dying with the same usage at about 7:30pm. Turning off Talk, disabling auto-sync & background data, and losing GPS unless I need it has really helped.

It is, of course, a shame we have to do such things to get a full day of use - but it does work.

BTW -I was already killing the usual tasks. Losing Talk & background data gave the big gain.

I've noticed using ATK that sometimes things like Sprint Navigation and QIK and other random 'built-in' programs pop up and start running again without me starting them. When I check settings-applicatoins-manage running sersvices I see no mention of any of those.

Any idea why these keep popping up even AFTER ATK kills them.. they'll pop up again randomly .. esp. QIK, Voice Dialer, Sprint nav

Thanks

Just cranked out 14h 47min and i'm at 13% battery. I was using the device pretty heavily for the last hour or so. At the 14 hour mark I was at 24%. I'm very happy with this considering I didn't plug it in at all today. Normally I plug it in for about 45 mins total throughout the day (30 min drive from work, 15 mins or so on the laptop while I move files) and I never dip below 40 - 50% by bed time. Not bad at all.

Ever since I have applied the fixes here, my battery life has doubled at least.

Closing flickr, and google talk have really helped. Their has to be something wrong with those two programs to take that much battery.

I'm not sure why today my battery seems to be on steroids. Normally I'd be at 40-30% but after taking it off the power plug, at 730a, I'm at 72% almost 14 hours after taking it off the charger.

I'm not a power user but I have used the phone on and off for web browsing and calls today. One thing I did different was charge it to 100% last night, remove it from charger while I slept and topped it off in the morning before work. I do have Task Killer and Juice Defender running.

Anyone got ideas how I can keep this going?

Just went approx 22 hours with light to moderate usage and the battery was down to about 37%. Pretty happy with that.

I am actually very impressed with the battery on this phone after a couple changes that were mentioned here.

I wanted to see how long, with regular useage, I could get before it was giving me the 15% warning. Problem is, I actually used it more than normal because I had a few videos I wanted to try out. Went from 4:30pm to 6:01 the next day, and had aFirewall running the whole time. Watched 2 UFC fights and the beginning of Book of Eli during this time, as well as took a bunch of pictures that I normally wouldn't, all using the flash. I wanted to test it from a fresh boot, so I didn't have the CDMA fix applied. Also played the Rune-mmorpg for a few minutes in there as well. Pretty confident that with general phone usage and only a couple web checks, i could get 36 hours out of one charge, or at least 30.

I noticed that when charging my EVO using the USB in my computer I'll get a green light. Then if I immediately take it and plug it into the wall charger the light will be orange and it wont turn green for 3 - 5 minutes.

I read somewhere on here that if the red wrap on the batter had a silver space on it it meant one thing. I can not find that thread anymore. can someone popint me back to it or tell me which battery was better the one that you could not see the silver or the one that you could. I cant remember how it went. I have a battery that has silver showing and the life on it is not that great. I have been trying all the trick you kind people have posted and I will keep trying in hopes I can make it til at least lunch with my battery. lol

i am so with you on that!!!

I dont get good signal where I am at and my phone never lasted past 7pm even with all backround processes off so I returned it as I am outside all day and running around doing thing where I cannot charge my phone. There is not good thing about the battery unles HTC addresses this issue with some type of software update as they will not come out with a hardware fix unless they make you buy it. Best phone out right now if you have access to power outlet for a good portion of the day if not should not get the phone.

If you want good battery life just go to settings --> accounts & sync --> click on Facebook for HTC if you synced it, and go to remove account.

I'm convinced there is a glitch that is causing outrageous data usage, weird text scrolling issues, and shiit battery life.

I'm willing to bet the people who are pulling great battery life don't have FB synced or they don't have a large amounts of contacts synced.

I don't think the blackberry battery is awesome. I have a Tour and never make a full day. I don't talk much, but I do alot of texting and web. I can't wait to have a screen I don't have to squint at all day! I am ok with limited battery for the bigger screen because my battery life already sucks.

I have a wall charger at work as well as at home. Constantly charging around 3 in the afternoon now, why should that have to change.

Hmm i have a tour as well and ive had it since its release, but ive never had battery issues...
