Root Battery Life with custom roms

I am thinking about switching from my droid inc 2 to a Tbolt, mainly for 4g, but I am wondering if custom roms help with the tbolt battery life at all, because that is my only real concern. Any input would be great thanks.

Rooting and running a custom ROM is the best thing you'll ever do for your phone. I've always gotten significantly better battery life being rooted and using ROMs/Kernels

ok thanks i had my OG droid rooted, and i was just wondering with all the talks of how horrible the tbolt battery is if it made a significant difference to have a custom rom. Any rom in particular that has better battery?

I actually got a full day out of the Thunderbolt with CM7 rc.6. It may be an alpha rom but it is pretty damn good.

i typically get 10-12 hours of heavy use from cm7.

what i consider light to moderate use gives me 15+

still stock kernel,402 radios.

I have been getting 24 hours or more on CM7. I have a 1700mah battery. I woke up this morning with 51% left and it was at a day, and with the rate of how i am using my phone(mostly WWF, cut the rope, angry birds) i probably could have made it through the day but decided to charge just in case.

are we all of 4G? are we all turning off data or having an app do so? are we in a 4G area with 3G enabled to save some juice?

get realistic and specific. i get a whole day+ when i toggle data TBH, but 4G, um not a chance. i live in a strong 4G area (or so V says)...

How the hell are yall getting such good battery life, i'm using BAMF 1.8 and I barely get 8 hrs with light/medium usage(txting, a few callls, browsing the forums, facebook, maybe 1 game). I do leave 4g on a lot though, but is that really a 12 hour battery life difference ...if it is i might just have to turn 4g off.

I'm in 3G during the day and WiFi and night.

I also use Green Power on Froyo and Juice Defender on GB, which does seem to help.

The only thing I have syncing is Gmail, and Yahoo refreshing automatically every 2 hours. I have my weather set to manual, so when I want an update I tap it, otherwise it does nothing. I use auto brightness, most of the newer ROMs will get better battery life leaving it on auto. I watch maybe 45min of streaming video on lunch, send maybe 10-15 texts, and maybe 2 hours of internet off and on. I'm outside of 4G right now by about 15min so that does help quite a bit I'm sure.

When 4G does expand out my way, and Netflix has all the bugs worked out, I'll probably start having to use my backup battery.

no battery saving apps or task killers on my device. I'm on the edge of 4g so i do have it turned off because of that and handoff problems in CM7. If i am not on 3g i am on wifi. No over/underclocking or undervolting.
